Lets remember how that "foreign species" of a bird with a ring around it's neck is not only acceptable but pretty popular with sportsmen.

Funny how one never hears plainsman bitching about the pythons in Florida..........guess there is not many high fence python operations around to use under the intent to malign deer and elk operations.

the Asian carp will now takeover CWD as plainsmans go to example in his agenda to ban HF operations

Are you aware of any unintended consequences to the pheasant being brought to America by the Chinese immigrants? Because while there probably are some issues, I am not personally aware of them. Asian carp though have some really bad consequences.

Stop and think for a moment how many non native species between plants and animals and other things have been "introduced" in this country.

I have pastures full of them. There are fields and orchards full of them. Some pushed native species out and some have not. Some claim they are "destroying eco systems" as well in a push to return us to native prairie and buffalo roaming the commons.

How many have been beneficial to us and how many have not.

Maybe start of by sharing the actual impacts and facts regarding this release may have rather than using it to further a predictable historic agenda against HFH and it would be an interesting topic.

Yep, as a rancher I am sure you are well aware of the problems associated with crested wheat grass that was planted out in the badlands. There are a ton of consequences for invasive species. "Modern" ag and flower lovers have brought all kinds of shit to bear in the countryside. I am fighting baby's breath and absinthe wormwood at my place. That shit is worse than thistle, which I also have in spades.

Well outside of people blasting away in the ditch by our house........Walking tree rows on posted land....or having to dig a festered shotgun pellet out of a horses neck during pheasant season...........

Are you aware of any unintended consequences of Aberdeen Angus cattle being introduced by Scottish immigrants?

Indeed Asian Carp have shown themselves to be a problem..........

The G&F years ago championed planting of the Russian Olive tree.......now they claim they are an invasive species........So was that "greed" or "stupidity"?

My point some seem having a hard time grasping is exactly what will these salmon impact?

Some times the sky falls with these introduced species.....sometimes it does not, can you tell us which catagory these salmon will fall into?

So please allen share with us facts about the salmon in question and the impacts they might have. I actually am curious. (maybe without throwing in the red stag/elk hfh deal for good measure)

I guess maybe the habitat destruction resulting from all the Hardees and Carl Jrs. and Texas Longhorn steak houses might be an unintended consequence.....

Holy, we better label the angus steer an invasive species.

Pheasants are mean to grouse and run them off the food when winter is tough. So grouse numbers are lower because they are starving. Pheasants are mean

gst,

None of those are the pheasant's fault. The shitty assed people with firearms would be chasing grouse, or the other introduced bird (Huns) if the pheasant weren't there.

Using the same logic wouldn't a greedy Norwigen ranchers be considers an invasive species?

Aren't most farmed fish sterile?

I've been trying to find this out and at least in other places farmed fish have reproduced.

I'm curios about the disease fear the bring up. Technically these fish have lived in the same waters. Wouldn't there have been a risk of passing on disease to the native fish from there pens?

I could see them temporarily changing the eco by out competing the natives for food.

Being about time for the fall run what would these fish do? Youd think they would stay somewhat in one place if thats where the have been since fry.

Allen I thought you were better at recognizing sarcasm............

Only when they congregate and attend lutefisk dinners.

You must be a dumb Swede...can't even spell Norwegian right. ;)

If you are not going to follow a humor based sarcastic discussion, then I must point out that you did not ask for things that were the pheasants doing, merely unintended consequences of the Chinese bringing them here.

I highly doubt the Chinamen that carted them over foresaw or planned trespass or shooting too close to peoples houses. Perhaps the stray pellet might have been considered and weighed but highly unlikely as well thus being the "unintended consequences" you asked for.

The coulee was dug up and had a concrete spillway put in a few years ago to stop just such a release from ripping the plug out.

I assume you are referring to this structure, I don't see a concrete spillway, but should suffice to control flooding if you trust engineers... lol

I agree south Dakota has so many deer the sdgf gives out extra tags that can be used on a particular land owners property. A non land owner gratis tag which is super neat in my book, atleast north Dakota has a better outside site then south Dakota some people from south Dakota come on to share on north Dakota topics :;:cheers

Don't feel bad atleast we can tell where our section lines are here in the Dakotas, now if you didnt have a compass you could easily get lost with no land references in Wyoming.
