Snows were around Berthold-Stanley and 30 miles south of there last 1-2 weeks. Haven't seen or heard any in 3-4 days now.

Straggler flocks here and there around VC, but it's pretty much in the books around here.

I put about a 150 miles on today around the Oakes and Lamoure areas. Only seen 2 flocks. One had about 30 birds and the other was about 3000. Big difference form 2 weeks ago when every corn field had a flock in it.

Small flocks of snows have been flying over the Canadian border night and day for 3 or 4 days.

Never seen so few flocks this year. They must have came through fast or more to the west.

There were at least two days where it was near nonstop waves of birds flying up 83 south of 94. These days the migration out west is nearly if not completely the same size as I used to hunt out east. Back when this all got started you would see a few out west with the only real flyway which was a mini one at that was by Dawson but now days there is no longer any need to go out east with the big push coming up the river. Although I've yet to really see or hear much for juvie flocks around here but I also haven't really looked either.

go north of cando or devils lake and tell me birds didnt come through east... they skipped over southeast nd this year and have staged central-northeast.

- - - Updated - - -

on years when birds get pushed back from nd into southern sd and neb the adult birds tend to slip west and catch a ride with the wcf birds. yea it was definitely a bigger western flight this year. key word "was" the birds that come west are mainly adults and usually dont stage in one place more than 2-3 days. when birds start crossing 94 i get reports of them hitting canada that same day. theres a few juvies mixed in but the main juvie flight still comes thru sand lake. the juvies that fly with the wcf flight stay with the adults. there are no juvie pods that get left behind.

Dean- the potholes out west and SW of Minot did not recharge as much as a guy would think this year. I would say most of them are a little high, but around normal levels that they have been the last couple years. If this is a normal to drier summer, the sloughs will lose a ton of water. All the snow melted and dissapeared, soaked right in pretty quickly.

Central and western Bottineau County is covered with sheet water, lots of water and you can find geese just about anywhere. Went out last Saturday for the first time and did okay, it is way to muddy to even get into the fields to decoy so hoping to get some late season birds in the decoys when it dries up some. They seem to be less yesterday than last weekend but still LOTS of birds around.
