If anyone has a 3F2 any buck tag and wants a weird mule deer let me know. Went by him this morning well looking to fill my whitetail buck tag. He has nice four point on his left side. Possibly a five point if he has a browtine. His right side on the other hand is a spike or maybe a fork. The thing is his right side doesn't go up like it should but instead it goes more down and back and looks kinda curlycue. If I had an any tag I would have put him in the dirt in a second but alas I'm stuck with a whitetail and all my friends either have doe tags or res tags and so not legal for them either. This deer would make for an awesome euro mount since I'm guessing he has a messed up skullplate. If this is a deer you might want let me know and I will give the exact spot he's in and I think he has been there atleast twice since Monday. All I ask for is if you get him I want to see a pic of his goofy rack. Oh and body wise he's huge....atleast 3 1/2 but probably a 4 year old deer.

No primarily I've seen him of state ground but he is close to an 8th of section so you have to keep and eye on that.

Having much luck with your whitetail buck? All the whitetail bucks we seen were on posted land. We did see couple decent muleys on public ground one of which my uncle shot.

so if a guy were to hunt down there, what are the rules for camping? Access? Posted Signs? is it treated similar to national grasslands type rules? The standing rock g&f website leaves a lot to be desired...

i think it''s 475 bucks for a nonmember-nonresident rifle buck tag(6points on whitetail, 8 on muley for horns 1 inch brows are a point) first come first serve, whitetail doe is $150 on standing rock...TAF didn't do a nonmember tag this year unless you are a non member spouse or child of a member.

Not sure how many nonresident tags they issue, but without knowing the area or having someone to take you, if would be pretty tough not to step on some toes. I've had permission on a ranch that contained a lot of tribal, and a fair amount of deeded (state) land also. Its not fenced out just one big pasture that checker board state and tribal. Technically I would need a state tag if I shot on state/deeded land, but that particular ranch, its just treated as tribal. In fact a buddy had permission from the land owner, and some tribal residents tried chasing him off the land. You see, their names are probably on the allotments that are then leased to the rancher who own's the deeded land. It's their ranch and cattle, but there is no way they can keep out the tribal members, or anyone else with a tribal tag. But you got these guys who think that because their name is on the allotment (along with dozens of others if not hundreds in most cases) that they can rule that land.

In short its a mess, I pretty much get a tribal map, and know most of the landowners I'm hunting on. There are areas that there is so much tribal, that everyone just hunts it with tribal tags, not even sure who's cattle are in there from year to year. Other areas are different, depends who's leasing the land.

I've had a couple run-ins with ranchers down there and every time it was a white guy try to come something was his that wasn't. Once they that you knwo there full of shit the tend to leave. Like said the hard part about down there is knowing exactly where the boundaries are. What I did was went and picked up a four map set from the USGS and sat down a the table for a few days and made my own maps. It's all easier to know where the line is if you can compare it to things like draws and rdges and creeks. This is the two map set that makes up most of the corson county side of the res.
