Oh, and one more thing, I'm not sure why you wouldn't post his name? You say you don't want to drag his name through the mud. IF he actually did this, than why not? Anything someone does in public, can and should be discussed in public. BTW, why didn't you bring this up on the other now dead outdoor website?

Again, I don't know his reasoning for doing it as we didn't ask him. Being that he was such a nice guy a few years before this happened, we gave him the benefit of the doubt that something really pissed him off. If someone shot up his house, killed his cattle or whatever, I personally wouldn't handle it that way but I can see why someone would and I will not drag anyone's name into shit, especially if I don't know the facts of the situation. The rifle was across his lap, not in his hands. There were 4 of us in the truck and not one of us felt intimidated or threatened, we just thought something obviously pissed him off or maybe he had just turned in to a grumpy old guy. As for me not bringing it up on the other site, I'm not positive I didn't.

According to you he made a threat when he said 'this is the last time you drive this road. You admit you turned around, his threat worked. Whether you felt threatened or not, his actions changed your destination. No matter what happened to him, he has no right to block a public road. I feel for ranchers that have poachers, litter bugs, and vandals. But breaking laws by making threats with a gun on your lap is way over the line IMO. If you don't want to call him out by name, fine. I hope he never snaps and hurts someone.

We didn't turn around and I never said we did (can you point out where I said we turned around?). We kept going where we were headed so he didn't change our destination at all. I said we decided not to challenge him. By that I mean we didn't say "this is a public road" so we will drive here whenever we want or call the sheriffs department and wait for them to sort it out etc.
Again, he did not stop us from going where we were going so there wasn't really a need to escalate the situation. Now if he had actually tried to stop us from driving down the road instead of just telling us this is the last time, that would be a different story. I get to spend very little time in the badlands each year and I would rather enjoy my experience than get in a pissing match with someone who lives out there year round.

Its all good. I had to go back and re read what I posted because I wasn't sure where you got that from. I can see why you might infer that by what I wrote when I said we decided not to challenge him.

Anyway, I apologize to the thread creator for hyjacking this thread. I didn't realize it would turn into what it did and that wasn't my intent. If you have any other questions about hunting that unit feel free to pm me and I will share what I can to help.
