I don t want to start an argument just curious after all the talk of expensive toys and all, have you ever thought that if shit went south financaly, what would it take to get you by. Many years ago was
talking to a relative , a CPA and they had to do a credit check on somebody in Bismarck, Their personal liabilities were 24 thousand a month, and that was close to 20 years ago, crazy amount. and start

At my peak it was pretty ugly. Business loans, student loans, and personal home and auto loans, the monthly liabilities were out of hand. They call it "cash flow" and it was a damn good thing I survived those years without interruptions! Things are much better now, and with our family of 5, $2500 would be damn tight, but we could pull it off. That is a survival amount, I wouldn't call it living....

good thread

At one time I lived off of 750 a month. I suspect I could do it again, but my wife wouldn't like how we'd have to get by.

Dude, your traffic tickets are outrageous. You need to start following the law, dickhead.

I'll tell you at the end of the month. Being recently separated I'm in the process of finding out. A ton of our money(at least mine was) is spent on luxuries that one really doesn't need. Cable TV, eating out, buying anything other than gas at a gas station are just a few examples of wasted money that really add up at the end of the month. Something that I always had a hard time wrapping my brain around is what people are willing to spend on certain brand name clothing items. Paying $50 for a &10 shirt because it has a certain logo on the sleeve just doesn't compute in my brain. Maybe it has to do with how I was brought up. Just goes to show how fortunate we are to live in times like these. Water at our fingertips, heat at the push of a button as well as air conditioning. Really is pretty crazy if you stop and think about it. Easy to take it for granted.

House, Truck (wife's is paid off) health insurance and camper and bills and I'm at about 4200. We don't live extravagantly by any means. Being self employed my minimum goal is $6000 so we can do the things we like. Then I have to pay the IRS and set something aside for when I get old on top of that. I picked up a second job this year for the benefits but the lack of free time Probably saves me more than I make.

I'm sure I'm like some of you, I could get by on less but have no desire to change the standard of living to which I have become accustomed. I do know it's much easier when you get some things paid off. That and I try not to waste what I spend. The problem is defining waste.

I had new pickups and new boats and new everything , then I bought a farm and realized you don't need brand new so I sold everything except the farm , started over with a 10 yr old pickup (paid for) , 8 yr old boat (paid for) , used lawn mower (paid for) and a used 4 wheeler . And built my own fish house . Bought a newish car for wife but paid it off fast cuz I have no other bills except a very reasonable mortgage . We put half our monthly income every month in savings and still have a good time . Point is you can still have fun if stuff isn't brand new

Had a friend who used to do a lot of credit checks. Told me that when there was a high income individual who didn't qualify for a loan due to the credit check the most common reason was alimony. Lots of income generally meant lots of alimony.
