This is a sad situation that could have been prevented had the owner taken the responsibility to properly train the animal. I will agree that some breeds are more prone to aggressive behavior but the owner should be aware of this when they get them. These wannabe owners neeed to be held accountable for their pets actions and do some jail time when this happens. Maybe then they would think twice about what they are doing and how they are doing it. Totally preventable situation!

Statistically I'd say pitbull, but coulda been anything.

I hate people that bring their shitty dogs to the lake. Keep those God damn things on a leash. God forbid you try n shore fish without some damn dog running through your lines, or jumping on your kids.

And in my experience, shitty people buy shitty dogs.

No lie. There's a guy who brings his two dogs to where I fish often, puts lights on their collars, and they tear all over the place. They're a treat when you're trying to land a fish.

Karma got him last fall though. He was landing a fish, dog got in the way, lure got into the dog, and when he was getting it out of the dog's hide, it hooked his hand bad. I helped him cut the hook off the lure.

You don't train dogs like that, you get rid of dogs like that, there is no reason to have killers like that around

Some people get dogs and raise them like the raise their kids. UNDISCIPLINED

My dog is better behaved than most kids. Hell, probably better than a lot of adults. It's not much different than anything else. Shitty people and shitty people's dogs wreck it for everyone.

Edit: After actually reading the article, which is sparse on info so far, it's not a case of someone being shitty and letting their dog run loose all over the place. Just neighbors hanging out and it seems like the girl was already familiar with and friendly with the dog, so anybody's guess as to what triggered that response.

It can honestly be any breed of dog... I had a lab that shitty neighborhood kids used to taunt when I was gone and he bit a person one day and I had to shoot my dog because of shitty neighbors... also when I was about 6 yo I had a friend of my mom's cocker spaniel rip into my face after playing fetch for an hour, and I knew this dog very well (that dog was not put down, but I never trusted it again)... people get scared and do the wrong things around dogs all the time, running and not showing dominant behavior is the biggest mistake for the people who get bitten. You can stand between two dogs fighting for dominance and not get seriously bitten if those dogs are aware you are the dominant one

Sad. Keep your damn dogs on a leash. It's always fine until something unforeseen happens.

Ever noticed that 90% of pit, rotts, and the like are either owned by single women or sketchy druggie looking MFers

Feel bad for the single moms who actually believe the 'not bad dogs, bad owners' line.... Theyll change their tune when their kid get ripped up by Snuggles!

We live in town, about 6-7 yrs ago, while we were sitting on our back deck, one of my wife's friends who she hasnt seen in a long time, came walking down the street with her boy friend and then dog, some pit bull cross, my wife recognized her friend so opened the back gate to go say hi to her on the street/sidewalk to say hi to them. Our male Springer got out..our fault..no agrument there and rushed over to greet them..pit bull attacked and was holding his neck..my springer was wailing so loudly my neighbor a block away came over.. nothing we did seemed to work making him release his grip until i ran to my dog kennel and returned with a pail of water and threw in dogs face so he let loose. If not for that..i think pit bull would have killed him...altho i think i would have killed the thing in front of his owners.
