Heard from someone today that a couple sconies were busted down at Alkaline last weekend with around 100 walleyes over their limit. Don't want to cause a ruckus if it isn't true but I can't find anything online.

Of course it's true, I could of put up a post on this but I know it will cause such a sensation to ridicule out of states fisherman. I wonder how many pages this one will get my guess 15:;:stirthepot

Doesn't this happen every week?

This is exactly why I have no idea of the legitimacy of this story. Seems like it happens too often but could be the same story. Like I said initially, I'm not trying to re-light everyone's torches. I just wanted to know if it was true or not.

Thats why they have freezers in their trucks so they can bring home a freezer full of fish. The NDGF does so little to stop this activity that they are bold enough to continuosly do this with fish and game year round. Anytime a bust is made is from someone calling in.

We will continue to bitch and complain until its muchhh too late; just like the deer population decline and all those dream-breeders roaming the country until december of 2005, then we will just carry on to reminince about the gooood old days of fishing in ND 10 years later..The word "proactive" and term "preventative maintenance" are 2 such important objectives people let slide farrrr too often, esp those in charge of MAJOR decision-making..smfh!!
Ex:your vehicle is leaking fluid on the garage floor, hmmmmm; sum ting wong? (nahhhh itll eventually stop which must mean it must have somehow magically fixed itself and there will be no repurcussions down the road...) Enjoy it just in case!
How about just showing a little bit of concern to the public eye to show that you are at least somewhat concerned about "OUR" resources, make a simple public statement on the radio/television that prosecuters will be punished to the fullest extent or SOMETHING, just make these low-life, leech-sucking poachers at leassst somewhat nervous/concerned to break the law here in ND for god's sake!! Seems like the almighty dollar is allll that is worried about over a bountiful resource and i would hope somebody/somewhere learned that the "over-demand" of "supply" to please the minority didnt quite work so well in the long run a decade ago! ;:;rant Over

I believe this might be the same story I posted a bout earlier. That was the rumor in town that they were 100 fish over. Turned out it was 24 over. Who knows though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else was caught being over. There is no less than 30 trailers in the parking area at Alkaline anytime you drive by. I'm wondering how many limits can be pulled from that lake and finally have an effect on the fishing.

I hope you're right, bacon. As far as how many fish have been taken from there, I think it'll put a big dent in success rates.

I view those lakes like the trout tank at the fair. They (the sconis) pay to fish it and when the fish get low the G&F just back the truck up and top it off again. Let them have at it, but at least cash in on the fines while you (the G&F) can. It is like a business, take the fine dollars and get more fish, stock the lake and collect the fines. And the circle continues for forever.

I fished a 4,000 acre reservoir back in Ohio that was less than 30 minutes from downtown Columbus. On weekends you could almost walk across the lake there were so many boats. The lake gets tons of pressure and gives up alot of crappies, saugeyes that are stocked, white bass, small and largemouth bass, catfeesh and some really nice musky in the low 50"s. Saugeye and musky are stocked annually. Lake held the state record for saugeye, around 13# and was caught just a few years ago. Anyway, no excuse for over limits, over anything, etc... but I sometimes wonder if we under estimate fish populations and the effects of fishing. I know it is apples n oranges maybe but there are a couple million people within an hours drive of the lake and it has been a great place to fish for 30 years. Let the smacking begin, lol.
