Yea sad sad deal.
Step dad had a 71 800 king kat growing up, thought it was the coolest thing ever back then with the cylinders sticking out the hood!😊👊👊

Burk Implement in Cooperstown sponsored an Artic Cat racing team (Burks Kats) in the late 60's & early 70's. They had a 1971 800 King Kat with the 800cc Hirth engine. Had a chance to ride it around a 1/2 mile oval track in Cooper and it was unbelievably fast & loud! JLO single bangers were common at that time and AC was marketing their 399's & 440's. I think AC also made a 4 cylinder 800cc by Kawasaki if I recall.

Dad and I would go to drag races on frozen lakes that were put on by local dealers, back in the 80s almost every town had a dealership. Lots of air cooled short studded sleds screaming down tbe ice. There were so many snowmobile companies back then where a person could get a decent sled for a few hundred, that the owner could WORK on himself. I grew up riding FA and FC Rupps

Dad was a close friend of the AC dealer in town so we only had AC sleds. Neighbor had a Sno Jet that was crazy fast for the day. Seems like we worked on those old sleds as much or more than we rode them. Dad & I would go for Sunday rides and success was defined as getting back home with both sleds running after a 40 mile ride. Think top speed on our first 19 HP JLO powered sled was around 30mph if I recall.

They needed to do more on everthing but sleds. The profit margin is insane on utvs and side by sides

Cant rely on snow only

30 mph on one of those sleds felt like 80 on a modern sled.

I used to have a '79 Arctic Cat Jag snowmobile, 340 fan cooled. Good old trail sled. Used to ride it at the desert south of Bismarck and on the Roughrider trail south of Mandan.

I always thought arctic cat had the best jackets, I had an arctic jacket that had wool jacket with leather sleeves with a green embroidered picture of a guy riding a snowmobile with arctic cat under neath. Was super warm until I had it stolen out of a coat rack at some business.

I still have some of my uncles' old cats 440 panther, 340 cougar I believe with leopard print seat, and race sled Sno- Pro it is custom and my last sled I bought 10 years ago with damn nice coat, bibs and boots they were nice. I was born and raised in Montana then moved to this loving state and showed a lot of boys where some good places to ride where. We had vest and beacons we wore some of crazy places we road with nitrous, extended tunnels and or other mods was fun not no more to damn old seen one guy buried alive could not dig him out to not follow instructions running from avalanche. Still have ole JD 440 trailfire I believe from 70's that was bitch to start my uncle got it put in his truck when bought new tractor. Fun to look into the rafters up high and see them from time to time. Heck worth more now then new.

Had the ole 71 panther with leopard seat. That thing was a tank. You had your work cut out for you if ya got stuck.

Also had a 91 EXT, that thing was a rocket. Beat a couple Thundercats in drag race

I couldn't imagine being a witness to an avalanche casualty. Thankfully our group has been lucky. Chasing adrenaline is fun but has its consequences

It's not all bad news.....I know Marvin Windows in Warroad has a workforce issue and is looking for employees. This can only help ease that. It's a good company that pays well, good benefits, and treats folks right. Arctic Cat employees will have some options to slide over there....

FYI
According to recent news, Marvin Windows announced a year-end bonus for 2024, distributing over $17 million in profit-sharing among eligible employees, with individual bonuses ranging from $1,800 to nearly $5,400 based on length of service with the company; this information was shared at their annual meeting.

Does it bother you what kind of clothing a person wears to church. It shouldn't bother a Christian what other people wear
Yawn……if you aren’t capable of reading my posts and understanding that I’m joking, don’t read my posts anymore. You will be angry all the time.
