Mass "causes" gravity. Gravity is what we call the effect mass has on space. Think of water as space, and mass as a boat hull. The force of the water on the boat hull being gravity....the bigger the boat, the more force, or gravity.
What keeps planets from smashing into one another?
Oh I'll always look up...I'll just laugh every time
Where have you been MSA
His sword.
I was a big astronomy geek growing up. I bought a 6" reflective telescope. I could see lots in the night sky but nothing thru the neighbor girls windows ... damnit!!!
I see the cluster as frontal and a "sword" would be a Buck knife. A dick is logical and impressive. I'll bet "sword" is meant to pacify the the giggling ladies. Also the "w" is retarded.
That is all.
Nobody in our time arranged the stars. The stars particular arrangement from our point of view is happenstance from millions of years ago. In the early part of man's existance some people gave star clusters names and outlined which stars were included in each cluster. Your saying that the group of stars in Orion is a knife or "dick" is meaningless. For centuries those stars have been synoymous with a sword.
After reading these posts and going back and researching this, it is called Orion's Belt and it goes around where his waist is so that makes sense. Cannot be even thought of as his dick or his sword.
sl1000... you must be referring to a different set of stars cause there definitely is a cluster in a straight line below his belt (which you are referring to) and its historically been thought of as a sword hanging from his belt. after this discussion, there might be some reconsideration by the modern astronomists.
