So me and another guy were out checking pits and saw this guy come out of a stubble field across the road . So we stopped to look at him saw he had a broken wing. Got a sweatshirt and wrapped him up with it brought back to town to gfp and they said they will send him to Pierre to get all fixed up. I guess snowy owls are rare around here i like the big raptors and he sure was a cool looking bird

That's awesome. I was on my way home from the rifle range in bismarck and spotted a great horned owl on the side of the road. I pulled over to call game and fish to notify them. When I finally got transferred to a warden, he kinda chucked when I told him the situation. Not sure if he actually did something or not. Glad you got it some help!

Kind of reminds me of the story of the Fox or Coyote someone had in their vehicle. I laughed so hard when i saw that little guy in the photo.

That biologist needs to get his eyes checked. Snowy owls don't have ear tufts. Great horned for sure

I once caught a nice pike out of skunk bay and the tribal game and fish was making his rounds, come over, saw the big pike sitting on the ice and asked me if it was a Northern or exactly what kind of fish I had...hahaha. Sometimes a badge and title don't mean you really know what you are doing.

Well upon further inspection I am going to call Bernie a snowy great horned owl. He transcends all species of owls. He will live on in Christmas legend for the rest of my days. Fly on Bernie fly on.................

Me three.

I remeber when I was a kid I would find wounded birds, baby squirells, baby birds and such. I would take them down to the zoo thinking they nursed them back to health. I later found out they were fed to the pythons. Dirty bastages.

I wonder if this owl wasn't taken to the zoo?

Don't have a zoo here. Said there is a vet in Pierre they take injured raptors to. Should have brought Bernie home with me there are a couple mice in the garage I can't seem to kill or catch. Maybe he will repay the favor and stop by when he up patrolling the sky's again.
