Take a look at these. The vast majority of slips originate from the heel slipping out. These are easy to slip on and not really cumbersome so they can be put on in the morning and left on all the time.

I have a set of Yaktrax and really like them. There are times when I wish I had a more aggressive set but I like the fact that I can jump in and out of my truck and not worry about tearing up the floor mats and whatnot.

I like the yaktrax good traction and light. I think they are made to run in. another plus is they wont completely ruin ice house floors if you go in and out by accident without taking them off.

if you are really cheap just get some short sheet metal screws with a 1/4 in head and screw them into the soles of your shoes.
