My wife was hit broadside on Monday by a lady that has Northstar insurance. My wife was on a side street and lady coming out of a Hardee's parking lot. The lady said her foot pedal stuck and rammed my wife's car. Northstar said it wasn't there fault as it happed in a parking lot. I told them there client came out of the parking lot. I had to go to Moorhead PD and have them rewrite the accident report. When the cop told them everyone could go. I said to him, her throttle stuck and your letting her drive off. Yep she can go. He told me I couldn't drive my wife's car home because it didn't have a passenger side mirror. I said I'm driving it home and I did.

What the "f" does a parking lot have to do with the driving ability of one of their clients. That is complete bullshit. Your insurance company should be able to fight that one, because that's not gonna be a cheap fix.

It's totalled out. Over 6000.00 just for air bags. All along the whole passenger side . Anyone in the Fargo/Moorhead area need brand new tires plus rims for a Pathfinder? We put new tires on it first part of Dec. I took the auto start out of it as it cost me over 700.00. You can start it with fob or phone.

Yeah well when I was living in Detroit lakes and was driving south on 59 just west of Detroit lakes, I was turning left when a pickup truck slammed in the back of the car that was behind me. He called his buddy highway patrol officer from the county over to help him cover up that he didn't have any insurance. The driver of the pickup lied to me and nothing was ever done about it. I ended up paying with my own full coverage insurance to get paid to find a different vehicle. I'm assuming here that you are implying that north star is a crappie company because their insurer had fat feet. North star has been excellent company for me.

Just saw my statement from Auto Owners. My home went up 32% over last year. Cars went up too, but minimal.

I've bounced around a bit, auto owners, nodak, progressive, i'm back at nodak. customer service is worth something to me. I've never had a problem getting a hold of my agent, unlike the other places.

The most important part of insurance is the coverage and payout history.

Cheap, just like anything, sometimes ends up being the most expensive.

Last situation I needed to file was the camper pickup debacle, it turned out to be a zero issue claim, and zero time out of me to get the quotes, and mostly was able to cover the deductible too.

FYI, I do not sell myself insurance anymore, but this was with the company I sold for for years.

I work with them all pretty much daily, I'm not familiar with all of their rates, but when it comes to pay out and coverage, most all of them are pretty fair...I can say which ones to stay away from. Geico and USAA have been the worst to deal with for the entirety of the 20 years I've been doing this, and Farmers union has taken a close second to them since covid. State farm hasnt ranked real high on the list lately either, but if their rates are cheaper than everyone else, go for it.

Anyone want to post what their insurance companies consider for the amount of an accident forgiveness against a claim. I will start 2000 anything less is forgiven, what a joke

So the last time I shopped was a few years ago , I was with American Family at the time and got tired of constant bill every few months. Got ahold of my agent and told him I wanted everything due on 1-1 of every year , was told they couldn't do it . Asked for 5 years of loss runs . Miraculously about 2 weeks later they COULD do it. So we were done. Gave my loss runs and copies of current policies minus the premiums to State Farm , Allstate, Nodak, Farmers Union and independent agent. Never got a call or quote back from Farmers Union or Nodak. Allstate was basically the same as American Family , State Farm was 35% higher and the Independent agent came thru with Auto Owners at 35 % less than I was paying with American Family , with higher liability limits , higher umbrella limits . Very small increases until this year when everything stayed close except the home went up 35% . So I guess next fall I will have to shop, got my quote to late this year to do it .

There was a time when the ND Insurance Department was a good place to take a complaint like above . You usually had pretty quick responses and satisfaction , Dont know if that is still the case

Shop around every 2-3 years. I left American Family and saved $1,600 a year on auto for 3 vehicles. Home owner savings was minimal.

I was always able to answer my phone in the boat, or on the golf course. Your agent must really suck...
Yup..why I dont recomend..also need to find the time to switch agents...has people answering the phone for him but if you want to speak directly to him...good luck. Been told he is on the phone with another customer as I have driven past him on the river.
