There's a large out of control wildfire with these winds in the foothills of the Bighorns north of Sheridan right now. My buddies ranch has burned, they saved the house and buildings. Terrible deal, took my best bull in that beautiful country.

Just heard 22k acres. Nearing Dayton. Spent good time hunting elk in that area. Started fairly calm and they hit it hard with air tankers. But it blew up yesterday and then the wind got wild. Too windy for tankers today I am guessing. There were five in the air but all went home an hour ago. Need fall to get here soon, was 100 here yesterday.

This has turned into an unprecedented fire for the Bighorns. They hardly ever burn, let alone to this magnitude. 35k acres and still going. They’ve been pounding it from the air too. Tough deal.

There’s some big fires out there. And we’re in October with no end in sight with warm temps and no rain or snow.

Saturday will be tough on the Elk fire. It may make it to Sheridan if the wind blows like they say.
