I'm sure many of you have heard about the recent break ins. The houses on Mustang dr that were broken into were just a couple houses down from my parents. Sounds like the criminals are checking for unlocked garages and vehicles.

Why people still leave things unlocked overnight shocks me, but just a reminder to protect yourself and keep things locked up.

There have been a bunch around Minot too. Oil field slows down, people get laid off, crime goes up. I now have guns, big dog, and alarm system. Stop on by mother fu**ers.

Been down that road almost exactly a year ago today. Alarm system, cameras, and 5 20 ga shells are awaiting the next dipshit that tries to invade my property.

Sawyer,
I hate that shit in a bad way. It just makes me angry thinking about the situation. I also have an alarm system and cameras now. I'm not making anything easy for them. They just better pray I'm not home if they show up, because I will do anything to protect my family.

What brand of alarm systems did you guys go with, and why? I'm looking into doing the same thing, but can't decide what to get.

Sawyer,
Vivent. They offered more for the money compared with our local provider, and they're reputable.

This shit will piss a guy off. I don't have an alarm system but I live in an area not known for break in. If someone is stupid enough to break into my locked house when the wife or I are home they won't be leaving without a hole or 2 in them.

Anybody ever consider less-than-lethal ammo for the shotgun? I never had until I was visiting with a relative this summer who lives down south. He utilizes the rubber bullets and bean bags on a regular basis(which led me to ask why he lives there) with good results. Stuns the a**hole's and he holds them for the police. No mess and no hassle, picks them off in the yard when the dog alerts him. Not sure if it would be the way to go or not, but he's had no legal issues doing it this way either.

If he used lethal ammo he'd have less and less occurances. Duh.

I understand that this may be the "right" thing to do, but what happens when the guy gets probabtion and decides to try it again. I'd rather put some lead in them the first time around and not have to worry about them coming back. Easier said than done, but I've played that situation out in my head many times.
