The Monach thread got me thinking as the monach population isn't what it is today as in in years past even tho I have a bunch in my back 40 hangin around the milk weed, but also notice the lack of blackbirds the last couple years in my area, used to have 100's nesting along the creek out back and eating up all the bird seed in my feeders, both redwing and yellow headed are gone?

Allen,no sunflower fields here, maybe the word got out to head west just like waterfowl once our farming practices drained all of our low lands and pushed the birds west.

Noticed the blackbirds are starting to group up and so are the morning doves here in the south east,

Same thing out in the western part of the state. Seems a bit early for them to be bunching up. I also have notice the robins are bunched up as well. Last weekend we were fishing the east end of the lake. Walleye fishing Saturday and Sunday was like the "Dead Sea". But the salmon guys were out in full force along Riverdale side. The sea galls were all in big bunches there as well. Seems like this is all about a month earlier than normal....but maybe it is normal. The apples are already dropping and it hasn't even froze yet. But they are good to cut and lay on the ground and when all the wasp and yellowjackets land on the apple. Hit them with a little killer spray. Them buggers are horrible right now.
