Boat Trailer Step?

I believe I am going to add a step of some sort to my boat trailer. It’s main use will be when I am loading the boat and want to step out of the boat down to the trailer to hook the winch up. It seems like just 1 (or 2) steps would be sufficient. What do you recommend and why?

The factory ez-loader steps and grab bar on my last three Yar-crafts have worked fine for me. Might want to check with your boat or trailer manufacturer, they may have a more reasonable option that would fit the need your after at a reasonable cost.

It isn't that common, but I occasionally fish from some very marginal ramps in high winds and by myself. How are these trailers setup to help ensure a person's bow doesn't get banged up during adventurous loadings?

I put a simple standing plate on my boat's trailer many years ago to help with it, but it's on the frame of the trailer and forward of the winch, so no way the boat is hitting it. My Toon has a ladder style, but again it can't be hit as it's ahead of the winch and the stop arms of the trailer.

What, other than operator's skill keeps these things boat-safe during the occasional bad landing?

How are these trailers setup to help ensure a person's bow doesn't get banged up during adventurous loadings?

I have this concern as well. Don’t want anything I could bang into by accident when loading.

In 12 years of having steps and grab bars on my boat trailers, not a single time have I ever came close to hitting the steps when loading. Not sure what you guys are running for boats or trailers but by the time the bow is that far up on the trailer, it's well into the cradle of the bunks. Even if you miss the center bunk and are between the center bunks and the outside, the steps/step bar is still far enough that you don't even think about it. I fish more than most and have never had this be problem.

I have the FlexStep Basic™ apparently. Ha ha.

It's probably 15 yrs old. Not nearly the bells/whistles of the Pro, but it's been great.
