umm no

I'd chip a hole in the ice with an ice pick before paying that much for a ice auger.

yeah but the article claims 10000 rpm that's way faster than the Gator

The motor runs at 10k, not the bit. A Solo powered Strikemaster runs over 10,000+ as well. Bit speed is WAY less, though.

2009 Solo Engine 154 Lazer Pro (3 HP)
10,000 – 11,000 RPM’s no load

9,500 RPMs under load w/ 40:1 transmission

Generates 240 RPM @ the drill

I'm not really sure what is going on at Ice Gator. Their web site won't pull up for me now. I have put 2 good seasons on my Ice Gator without issues, but their customer support is sketchy at best. I don't know if somebody bought them out or they are flaking out right now.

I know Capt has had his longer than me he may be able to chime in on any play in the bit. I know that Ice Gator won't have anymore problems with parts now since they filed for bankruptcy so those who have them will most likely have to fix their own.
Captain what kind of extension did you get for your nils, i see you can buy extra auger pieces now for your bit instead of just getting a solid shaft.

Don't need an extension with Nils bit in ND. My Nils is a 48" bit, I think. Longer than any standard bit. You could use any extension, if you have a shaft adapter, though.

Its ice fishing and a $1300 auger drills a hole a couple seconds fast than a $300 Eskimo. I could see if it took a half hour to drill a hole and this one cut the time in half but we're talking a thousand dollars to gain a couple seconds.
