I like to drink coffee and could drink it all day long when I was in the service. The blacker the better was my motto. Now I drink a half caffeine blend from folgers and have from a few cups to a pot throughout the day. Well my beautiful bride accidentally bought some full strength coffee and neither one of us realized it. OH GOOD GRAVY!!! I thought I was having a combination stroke/aneurysm/seizure!!!! I felt like I'd just driven on the rumble strips up and down a roller coaster with my eyes closed for 12 hours straight while sitting on a finish sander after eating a pound of bad cheese on top of stale beer. It lasted about 2 hours. Apparently caffeine and I are NOT on very good speaking terms anymore. (Sigh)

Caffeine the drug.

Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is the world's most widely consumed psychoactive drug. Unlike many other psychoactive substances, it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world.

Yep - three cups before 7 am and I'm done. Past that amount - and any afternoon coffee - gives me the shakes/nausea.

I have employees that drink it all day. Eeesh.

My coffee consumption exponentially increases from fall til spring..... once it's hot I start to indulge in the worst thing ever, energy drinks. I try to keep them to the zero kinds, but they are all terrible.

In the meantime, @KDM, I'll bring some Black Rifle Coffee to warriors on the water. Maybe get you out of that Folgers crap!:;:cheers

i have taken to drinking it on ice. even in the winter. 20 ounce cup of ice and dump one cup of really strong coffee on it. if at a coffee shop, have em dump a couple shots of espresso and a bit of water (americano) on ice. i find it a bit more refreshing and also don't feel the need to drink 3 or 4 cups then. not sure why though. caffeine doesn't seem to really effect me one way or the other though. i don't notice it when i drink it and don't notice it when i don't. the only time i notice it is if i have too much like KDM mentioned. my wife on the other hand seems unable to function without her daily 2 cups.

Like, just regular Folgers full throttle or sumpin' special I don't know about? I like to drink it until I get the shakes and/or feel like I'm on the verge of an anxiety attack. Cuz if its' sumpin' special, I'd like to, you know, know where I could get it.

Caffine and lots of carbs (like grandma's homemade Carmel rolls) makes for a very unpleasant crash about 2hrs later. Caffine with a little fat like some half and half, maybe a couple eggs w/bacon or sausage and I don't get the big crash.

I didn't think caffeine had any affect on me. Then I noticed if I drank it on the days we had to qualify with our duty sidearm I would shoot in the upper 80% to lower 90%. No caffeine and I shoot a 100%. That has changed with age. When we still used revolvers I shot nothing but 100% for 20 years. Then we went semi auto and I drink more caffeine. Down went the score.

FYI for you coffee drinkers, there is more caffeine in a lighter roasted coffee than a dark / espresso roast. The higher temp during the roast burns the caffeine off. I roast my own coffee and people who drink a pot a day usually get the shakes from 1 or 2 cups of mine, I have been numb to caffeine for years but if I don't drink a coffee in the morning you don't want to be near me.

Couple of cups of half caf in the morning, then I'm done. Anymore than that and I shake when I pee.

Forget the transition to semi auto, I want to know how the transition from single to double action went?

I'll bet you have an extra cup once in a while just for the thrill...

I went from a Smith 686 to a Kimber 1911. I'm not a big Kimber fan. I actually shoot better with my Springfield XD 45. I switch back and fourth from the Springfield XD in 45 to the 5.25 inch barrel Springfield XDM competition in 9mm. I will have to admit that sucker shoots. Off the sandbags the Kimber does 3.25 inches at 25 yards. Off the sandbags the XDM does an inch at 25 yards. Seriously thinking about a Glock model 20 for a duty weapon. Never owned a Glock. The only thing holding me back is the darn bulge in the brass from the Glock. Everyone says buy an aftermarket barrel, but then I may as well buy the Sig 10mm and be done with it.

Edit: Ooops forgot I carried a 629 for two years in between my 686 and Kimber. Loaded it with 44 Special so it was about like a 45ACP.

I drink two cups in the AM and one more at work. I need to be careful because I don't really feel it while I'm plugging away on the 'puter, I can OD and as soon as I get up to do something, I feel blitzed.

My grandfather can drink coffee all day long. To this day, he says he can't fall asleep until he's had a cup of coffee before bed.

I was referring to the transition from single action REVOLVER to double action REVOLVER, not to single action action auto (ie 1911). ;)
