They should have to just leave it where it is, because according to California Prop 65, that shit causes cancer...

In a perfect world, all the homes in the wildfire urban interface areas would be constructed of fireproof materials and have defensible space. Unfortunately it’s not realistic to update every home to fire resistant materials. But everyone should have a defensible space. In terms of forestry management, anyone talking about that needs to get a clue. It doesn’t exist in that environment. It’s crappy brush and chaparral in a checkerboard of ownership. And even then, it doesn’t take a forest to cause major structure to structure fire spread. Remember the prairie fires that burned hundreds of homes in the front range of Colorado a few years ago? This type of fire could happen in west Rapid City and burn hundreds of homes on a drought year with a windy day. Insurance is nuts in fire prone areas because it’s not if, but when. And getting worse by the year.

When you have millions of people living amongst a drought stricken fire prone mess, it’s going to happen. It’s a horrible situation and my thoughts are with all.

So another fire broke out today near L.A. miles from the 3 huge fires... now arson is suspected but not offical, blame game rampant.

I remember back in the 50' Denver had a massive fire that burnt the city all but down, building material and codes changed, denver has been good since, well except for the blue mayor.

Oh,and lyin biden today in California addressing (kinda) the horrific situation, like usual biden made the speech about him telling everyone he was a good grampa, wtf!

Why are these tragedies "we'll fix it for next time" always next time.

It made me sick too hearing about the insurance companies dropping people before the fire. But like usual there may be more to the story. One guy said this Sante Ana wind thing they get every season has varying degrees of damage almost every year, much worse in dry years. Much of this is due to mismanagement, enviros not letting power companies trim trees below power lines, water mismanagement and whatnot. Anyway the ins companies seen they needed to raise the rates to meet the rising risk of the fires. The state of Cali decided they wouldn't let them raise the rates. Companies can not operate in the red year after year unlike some state and federal govts so the only option for them was to drop the fire coverage or go broke. I would guess unless there is major change in the state that most ins companies will leave the state.
