Make sure to put a couple of those $10 NRA memberships on the Scheels card before you cancel.

Has anyone heard back from First National Bank? They have completely ignored my message to them despite their "guaranteed response in less than 24 hours".

I rarely use my scheels card. Not sure I want to cancel it or not, but I’m certain scheels will correct this poor decision and either switch banks or “convince” the company otherwise

I completely agree this is not Scheels’ fault. Let me put it this way: let’s say Scheels carries a line of fishing reels that are selling very well. Scheels makes more room on the sales floor and invests in a boatload of these reels. One day the manufacturer of these reels makes a profound political statement that is antithetical to the views of consumers. As a result, consumers boycott the company. Scheels is now stuck with a bunch of reels they can’t sell that are occupying valuable floor space. Is it Scheels fault that one of their business partners did something stupid? No. Will Scheels suffer nonetheless? Yes.

I cancelled my card because it provided quantifiable evidence that coming out against the gun owners WILL hurt your business. The impact is greater if the companies see cards are actually getting cancelled, not just people threatening to cancel.

For what it’s worth, I let Scheels know that I will continue to shop at Scheels and will take out a new card once they find a new bank.

Oh man, this... "The impact is greater if the companies see cards are actually getting cancelled, not just people threatening to cancel.".

Could not have said it better myself.

Do it. Don't just talk about it.

In front.
Use your heads a bit. There's no reason to "see what Scheels does." It's not about them, it's about First State Bank of Omaha. It IS about to be about Scheels too, in my mind, if they don't come out STRONG against what their card administrator did.

Sometimes silence speaks louder to me than anything else. Scheels has already wasted valuable time and is losing more and more credibility the longer they take 'plotting'. (there's nothing to consider SCHEELS)

Cancel your card NOW and IF/when Scheels does the only acceptable thing and finds a new card administrator, consider getting a new one then (or not?). There's nothing to wait for guys, it's done.

When I called they asked if there was a reason for me wanting to cancel. I said yes. There was a pause, then he asked if he could get the reason for me cancelling, you know, to better their service and whatnot. I said, "your company came out against the 2nd amendment, it came out against the NRA, it came out against me." He quickly replied "well we ONLY chose not to renew the NRA contract sir, but I can cancel your card and if you choose to come back in the future we will gladly welcome you(r)" $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

[h=1]Georgia denies Delta tax break after airline cuts ties with NRA[/h]BY JOHN BOWDEN - 03/01/18 04:14 PM EST 435

Lawmakers in Georgia removed a $38 million tax exemption for jet fuel from tax-cut legislation on Thursday in a move that will punish Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines.
Republicans vowed to remove the exemption after the airline cut ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Georgia's Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle (R), who is also running for governor, had threatened to kill any tax legislation that benefits Delta after the company's decision to end a discount program for NRA members.
Delta was one of several corporations under pressure to end its relationship with the organization amid a push for increased gun restrictions following a Florida school shooting.
“I will kill any tax legislation that benefits @Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with @NRA," Angle tweeted earlier this week.
"Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back."
The legislation had already passed the Georgia House prior to the decision by the Senate Rules Committee to amend it to strip the tax break for jet fuel, ABC News reported. The Republican-majority Georgia legislature then passed the amended legislation through both chambers by large margins, according to The Associated Press.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has indicated he will sign the bill.

Quick FYI, I was curious what kind of press Scheels has been getting/releasing. While I haven't found much, I have seen some comments on their facebook. It looks like people are just commenting on random topics about their view point.

I think why Scheels is taking some time on this is customers have rewards built up on their cards and Scheels were to cancel their credit cards man would there be some flak about customers losing their rewards. That is my guess anyway.

no one here is trying to take your guns or hunting rights not the same not even close, money made here doesn't go to lobbyist in Washington to mock hunters and take there guns.

The funny thing is Delta put themselves through that much trouble for a discount only 13 people have ever used!:;:muahaha
not sure what they were thinking. I bet less people even knew they were associated with the NRA in any way shape or form. They were going from some cheap press and uptick in sales with what they figured would be zero consequences

Citigroup is setting restrictions on the sale of firearms by its business customers, making it the first Wall Street bank to take a stance in the divisive nationwide gun control debate.
The new policy, announced Thursday, prohibits the sale of firearms to customers who have not passed a background check or who are younger than 21. It also bars the sale of bump stocks and high-capacity magazines. It would apply to clients who offer credit cards backed by Citigroup or borrow money, use banking services or raise capital through the company.

That's my Costco card. SOB.

So this is how they'll control guns. Financially.

Did Scheels ever make a statement?

I've been a big Scheels fan for years but they are making it tough. Went there today to get some things got turkey season. I left my Scheels card in my wallet as I havnt canceled it but will not use it. My debit card has a chip that does not work and hasn't for at least a year. Never had a problem using it besides the hastle of trying it three times. Scheels and only Scheels requires me to go to customer and they have to call and verify it and fill out paper work. I did this once before and it was a pain. So I left and will most likely order online for less now. I get it is do to security but if they are the only business in town doing it it seems a little unnecessary.
