You're right. The NRA does "sell fear" to motivate their constituents and push their agenda. So does every anti-gunner.

EXACTLY. Selling fear and being on the extreme end of an issue is pretty much never the right place to be. On EITHER side. This one included.

I thought the same thing when I saw Symantec on the list. Oh well. They will be getting an email from me explaining why they will be losing a 15+ year customer with multiple computers

Not sure yet. I've been eyeing PCMatic for a while mainly because it is a 100% everything done in the U.S.A. product, but the way their system operates seems like it may be a bit of an annoyance. They have basically created a "whitelist" of safe programs that they will not block when they try to run on your computer, but everything not on that list gets blocked from running. This sounds great, and helps to greatly boost their ratings in independent testing, but can be somewhat bothersome for someone that isn't computer handy. The reason I say this is because if you try to run a program that hasn't been added to their known Whitelist, well, it looks like it can be kind of an annoyance to deal with.

I have also looked into Kaspersky Labs products and while they are very well received by most folks, there has been some accusations floating around that they are directly linked to the Russian government. The conspiracy theorist in me tells me to stay away.

I will most likely end up going with Mcafee. They receive pretty decent reviews in testing and I like that for $45/year I can get protection for up to 10 devices across most all operating systems, including smartphones and tablets running either android or iOS operating systems.

I plan on doing some more research before I make the switch. If I come up with a better option than Mcafee I'll post it here.

Not sure about computer security, but for home security I’m working on a JAQX system. I know a guy who works for the company and it’s head and shoulders above anything else. (He also said the company president is really into guns.)

I Agree 100%
I use amazon a few times a year for the wife presents but I really don't believe in what they are doing to the brick and mortar stores.

I dropped Facebook a few years ago and I have not regretted it one bit! I don't think I could have handled it during the election and standing rock protests with all the idiots on there. If I could recommend something everyone should do is drop Facebook.

There are much better rewards cards out there than the Scheels card. Use this as an opportunity to look around and check out better options for your spending habits. You should be getting at least 1.5 points, if not 2 per dollar spent on everything. Also if you are actually caring a balance, its time to just cut it up, pay it off, and stay away from the cards.

What cards are recommended?

I never carry a balance - maybe run 1.5-2.5k month through it.

I use the Capitol One Venture and have the same spending habits you described. 2x points on everything, to use rewards you just go in and cancel your travel purchases with points after they hit your account. 50,000($500) bonus points for signing up now. There is an annual fee, but it actually works out if you spend more than 1k per month, vs the no fee 1.5x points cards.

With 50,000 bonus points and your spending, you would have $1,000 worth of travel in first year. There are actually a lot of gift cards you can use the points toward as well, but i just use it for free flights

It's time to start fighting back against this lunacy. I will no longer support the following companies for severing their ties with the NRA:

Enterprise
National
Alamo
Wyndham Worldwide
MetLife
Symantec

Add more if they come up

You can add Delta Airlines to the list.

I am against credit cards. But I am strongly considering doing what you do, put everything I can on a credit card and pay it off monthly.

I have a Costco membership, and have been looking at the Costco Citi Visa. 4% back on gas, 3% at restaurants, 2% on Costco purchases, and 1% on everything else. But, even when I quick figure the numbers out, I still come in around only $700-800 cash back for a year of spending. For me, that's not enough to justify using a credit card.

I hardly ever fly. So airline points mean nothing to me.

One benefit to Credit Cards is online purchases and traveling purchases, it is strongly recommended to use a credit card for both of these as opposed to a debit card out of your bank account. Fraud is out there and it is not a matter of if but when it will happen. Using a credit card for these types of purchases is much easier to dispute and receive monies back instead of working with your bank or risk of fraudsters obtaining your personal account information … and yes the best use of a credit card is to pay it off monthly
