This has always been a good tournament to fish before. There has been a few minor hicups, but never anything like this. This is a good area to fish, usually good numbers to catch and nice sized fish. We have placed a number of times in this tournament and never had trouble getting our money. I dont know how they could have messed up the payout schedule as bad as they did. Someone obviously didnt know how to use a computer. To answer question about picking up check Sunday night, we went to players club about 9 oclock and were told they would not pay out anything Sunday night. Checks would be put in mail, so we didnt wait around. Talked to Keenan yesterday (Tuesday) and said casino will call to get tax id number on tuesday or wednesday. Same as Rustys conversation, but havent received call yet. For us it only amounts to $350, not a big deal, but it is how they are handleing things. Keenan said next year they will get tax id numbers when you sign up for tournament. I said that wont happen because I wont fish it again.

same here 300... I'm done with the casino as a whole... if they have their finger in anything I'm not going to touch it... it is only $300 for me but still that is money they are essentially holding without my permission

How much cash are we talking here?

I have the same q -- I am assuming with the entry fee - they collected 40k. What about the big winners did they get cash?

The winners with less than $600.00 - no ssn should be needed -- I don't believe they would need to do any 1099s. If they are paying to one individual in the group of two - then they would need it.

https://gf.nd.gov/fishing/tournaments

If you look on approved tournaments for the rest of the year, the Prairie knights tournament is included. I don't think it matters that its on the Rez, they are having the tournament on public and federal waters, so GNF has to approve it. They may not be able to do shit about getting your money, but they may not approve them next year if they get enough complaints.

I watched the winners grab that cash and run like hell. He said he was leaving before they changed their minds. We waited till we got paid too. I think it is anything over $1,100 or $1,200 that you have to worry about taxes, so that is a BS excuse for not paying out yet.

Beulah sent check with 1099 in it and said please send it back. Simple.

Not going to lie. This is home town for me. For whatever reason it stings a bit when seeing how upset people are. I am one of them shaking my head. Do not understand how it got so bad.

Another respected fisherman and operator of other tournies plans to have a sit down with the Casino. Try and talk through where all these break downs occurred. He is home town too so this shadow of embarrassment looms over both of us. So before walking away cold turkey I am going to try and assist.

Didn't fish a perfect tourney this year yet. Exception I guess AIM because so small but the Casino definitely had the most issues.

Tim, I'm not really upset with the people running this tournament, I just think its funny. It would be a simple fix if they would just send out checks, as most don't need a 1099 form. I know you are local, but you have nothing to do with running of this tournament so don't put any blame on yourself. Ya I'm at Garrison alot, but don't feel I need to spend another $25 to drive up to New Town to pick up a small check. And yes, I was the one to start the mess of payout schedule as they didn't have our weight posted right, along with many others. Would have made a difference of only 5 or 6 spots but when a person tells sponsors where you finished and they see different numbers you have some explaining to do. It just leaves a bad feeling as to how they handled everything. Hope you can help explain things to your neigbors. Thanks. Will we see you at the Last Call?

I was back in the crowd unable to hear anything when they started calling out names. I would hope everyone on that list would have spoken up. I honestly wasn't overly concerned because weights were correct on the boards so knew it was a simple sort screw up in Microsoft Excel. Would be easy fix and all is well. At that point in time I was numb to anything that may have come our way, ha!

As for check mailing, absolutely. They shouldn't even attempt to try and sort and deliver money at the end of the tournament. Not many tournaments especially large in size divvy money at the tourney. They should just mail checks with a 1099 to be filled out or require a 1099 to be filled out as part of registration.

My statement of embarrassment isn't seeking sympathy it's me saying let's not abandon this tourney yet. If they are unwilling to sit down and assure changes and organization then I am done with it too.

TBH I'm thinking twice about doing the AIM tour because they use the casino and at this point I want nothing to do with anything that casino puts its name on

I don't think I would go that far. Yes the Casino was a sponsor for this seasons AIM however that is the only part in it they played. They had zero control over the tournament itself which is most likely why things were smooth. AIM is the smoothest format I've fished and as long as they are around i'll be fishing it.

Wow, I think it must be that infamous taxidermist mailing out these checks.

I am not a gambler, so they dont get any more cash from me anyway. I did fish new town last weekend and had great success West of the bridge in surprisingly shallow water. 9 to 12 feet using crawlers.
Stayed at the new town marina, east over the bridge
