I was in the arena the night the bull got loose inside the state fair building in Minot during the state fair rodeo in the mid-late 1980's.

When I went to UND, '63 - 'Jan 68 Fargo was known at Grand Forks as Moo U, Cow College and the Udder U but I think it's actual name was: North Dakota College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.

It has become a great University in ND with great alumni and sports teams. North Dakotans should be proud of the school and it's students and its Alums.

(I still give them $hi± whenever I can tho!)

When I saw that cow and it's contour I was thinking that it was a pretty high priced breeding cow. Not something you want to through on the smoker. Use a finished steer for the smoker. It was funny watching them try to chase it down however.

I remember reading about this fiasco. Wasn't there a woman in the restroom who had the partition tore apart by the bull while she was on the toilet? As I remember she didn't get hurt other than probably needing to use a little more toilet paper.

In the early 90's when I was going to college there, they had some western "wild" cows being slaughtered in the butcher shop for a carcass study and one got away after they had opened the throat. There was a blood trail 4 ft wide that went up the stairs, through the glass doors, and across campus that stretched from the arena building almost to university. Then you could see the skid steer tracks and the drag mark going all the way back to the arena. I saw this on Monday morning and just HAD to investigate. The best part of the story was when the guy told me of the RAUKUS RODEO that happened after the bleeding cow escaped. The chute was busted obviously so the rest of these wild cows got out into the lower arena area. Apparently there was a hog carcass study being conducted at the same time so there was a corral of hogs down there waiting to be slaughtered as well. These cows had never seen hogs and with the smell of blood, a strange place, and the presence of these short pink critters was too much for these cows. I guess when the cows got into the hog pen the day when "Pigs Flew" arrived as the cows proceeded to PUNT these pigs all over the downstairs area. It was quite the job to separate them without getting punted yourself. Ruined two runs of both the studies, but it's too funny not to laugh at the crazy stuff that happens.
