I use and have used for years a hanging tree stand that uses a bracket which you hang in the tree first and the tree stand hangs on it. I use either hang on steps or screw in steps. I usually hang the stand the evening before and sit the stand that night and if the wind doesn't change I sit in it the next morning. After the morning hunt I pull the stand and find a new location dictated by which way the wind is blowing. The question I have is doesn't anybody on here use a climbing stand and what are they like to use and pack in.

While I haven't used this set up in ND, I have used something called a tree saddle made by Trophyline and also carried a set of climbing sticks. Basically, its like a glorified, rear-facing treestand harness that you would use instead of an actual stand. It allows you to hunt out of nearly any kind of tree.

Compared to just walking out to a stand that you have already set, it's a pain. But compared to your average climbing stand, I thought it was very easy to use and very comfortable.

I haven't sat in a tree stand for many years, I still have my old one. I wonder what the weight rating is on them little T-handle screw in thingy's. I am not a lard ass, but big enough to climb cautiously. hahaha
blinds are more my style, with a generator and AC haha

I'm asking because (I hate to say it) but man after a weekend of hanging that stand putting steps in and crawling up and down the stand a few times its like Damn I feel that s**t for a week. Not to say that a climbing stand would be any better. I hunt public land so to leave it in the tree is not a option. I never leave the stand in the tree for any period of time because the deer will pattern you after a short period of time. The stand I use now is only about 16 lbs so I can hump that thing in all day long. I'm looking to get away from the steps part.
