That's pretty much a whiskey margarita.

I need a splash of water in with the ice cubes however I concur that good Whiskey needs nothing more.

Based purely on the 1st sip, I'd say that mesquite Crown, ice, and a splash of water is going to taste like the bottom of a glass of water used to put out a half-dozen cigars.

I love peated scotch. And I love the smoky High West whisky blend. But i smoked a bottle of bourbon once and it tasted like i was licking an ash tray. Too smokey. And it was "bad" smoke and I knew it before I started but I went a head with it. It was on an Bradley filled with thick white pillowy smoke and no air flow. Stupid.

And to think there are people who cook meat that way!

39 years ago in one night I drank a 5th of Windsor and a 6 pack of Miller Highlife. The next day if I looked at anything to drink, even water, I would puck green. ;:;barf yep just like that. To this day I can't stand the smell of whiskey.

One more pic. Christmas present to my self this year

Besides the usual, lately I've been drinking fair bit Grand Canadian and Coke. The shit is like 15 bucks a 1.75 but is surprisingly pretty good(mixed with Coke). Not near as sweet as crown. Not as good as Pendleton but about a quarter of the price.

Yikes, been there. Same deal in college except it was raspberry vodka. PUKE.

The problem with Canadian whiskey's is that they are what some call "brown vodka". Distilled at a high proof to an almost neutral spirit, then blended with just about anything until its 80 proof. For me, this results in a taste/dryness like drinking something sugar free, followed by a headache.

I never knew that! Between the meat I eat and the booze I drink, I am a walking cancer stick. Seriously. Bummed out. You are a buzz kill. But, truth hurts I guess.

Single malt scotch is my kryptonite. But, not a huge fan of anything too peaty.

When it comes to Smokey I think the perfect amount is in Johnny walker double black, the regular black ain’t bad either. Odly enough they are what got me liking scotches. I don’t mind an occiasional peaty scotch but I prefer smoke to peat. was never a crown fan and drank Pendleton when I used to mix more, I converted quite a few people who insisted crown was king. I rarely drink anything mixed anymore other than gin and tonic in the summer and the only flavored whiskey I buy is fire whiskey as a nipper while ice fishing/hunting/snowboarding etc.

I’m not a fan of peat scotch. Good lord we opened a bottle of Laphroaig one night and decided it had been distilled with the puss that’s squeezed out of infected blow-fly bites on caribou nut-sacks.

I used to be big into Crown back in my early 20s until i got WAY too hammered drunk on it. Switched to Pendleton, Makers Mark, and Tin Cup on rotation for a few years. Now i keep it simple and cheap, Jim Bean or Jack Daniels mixed with sprite or ginger ale. Anything smokey sounds like i wouldn't like it. I'll leave my smoke for my meats :)

There's only one drink a man needs, and that my friends is a cold Keystone Light. Covers about everything a man needs... a lot of water and a small amount of alcohol.

You should try the Lagavulin 16, I'd be curious to see how you think it compares to the Laphroaig 10 (assuming that's what you had). I'm not a big fan of that one either. The Lag is less peaty and much smoother.
