Don't people understand that by taking the vaccine they helping to STOP SPREADING IT!! Or are people so selfish they just don't give a shit? I just hope you don't spread it to someone close to you and they die.

I disagree, I'd rather they spread it to someone close to them (you know, those who tolerated or encouraged their behavior over the years) than someone that is close to me.

BTW, zoops...that was a great clip! Hilarious and on point.

I'm on the fence since I had covid and it was pretty mild. How long will the vaccine prevent it versus my antibodies, no one knows for sure. How many people are permanently damaged by the vaccine, you are not allowed to know that. There was a FB group site that contained personal accounts of people adversely affected by the vaccine and of course FB removed it. If the truth isn't that bad, why can't we know it? It makes me suspicious where I quit trusting everything. 450,000 have not died FROM covid. That's the count of those that died WITH covid and we all know it was exaggerated to make Trump look bad.

If I had underlying health conditions or was weak like @JayKay, I would probably get it. At this point, I am in wait and see mode. Science changes every other day.

If I have a weakness, it's listening to block-headed neighbors.

Haha!!!! Zing!!!

Nah, all kidding aside, I will agree with a lot of what Dirty says. He is after all, a medical professional.

As far as us being "not allowed to know that", I think sometimes we don't like the answer, so we say it's false, and then re-ask the question. Sometimes the answer we get IS the truth. It may or may not fit with what we want to believe. I'm not saying always. I'm saying sometimes.

Back to some of Guy's thoughts and musings, I suspect the whole masking up thing has done little to actually tamp down the infections. Sure it sounded good and seemed reasonable to want to flatten the curve, but in looking at the infections across the country and individual states, it sure looks like all locations are now in the same freefall that ND experienced in Dec.

And no, I don't think the Governor's orders to limit bar hours, close business's, etc can legitimately take credit for it. I think we've simply hit some pseudo herd immunity which is limiting transmission.

Similarly, I think Dirty is also correct in his thoughts on this is going to be with us for the foreseeable future. Simply too many anti-vaxxers out there nowadays to do the same thing with Covid as what happened to polio, smallpox, measles, mumps, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and ???? over the past 100 years. Which means if you haven't yet had it, so long as you don't get vaccinated it is just a matter of time.

I think you will see the vaccines be embraced more and more as time passes. There are two things right now in my mind that are hurdles for those who want to have faith in it but remain on the fence.

1) A general lack of trust in the government or in just about anything these days...people don’t like doing stuff just because “somebody says so”. If the message is delivered from someone you trust, it’s likely you can put some stock in it. When it is delivered from someone who you don’t trust...well it’s a lot harder for some people to go all in.

2) lack of long term data on COVID in general and on the COVID vaccines. It’s a lot easier to place your bet on a lot of info proven over time, and we just don’t have that right now. Many of the providers I work with list this as their own biggest hang-up as well as the biggest hurdle they have when discussing this vaccine to younger, healthier patients - EVEN those who have seen COVID wreak havoc on loved ones.

Some of you are quick to draw a parallel with someone who isn’t sure about getting the vaccine yet to someone who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. People like to make informed decisions when it comes to their health and the health of their loved ones. With all of the misinformation available on just about everything these days it is not so easy to do that anymore.

Having your peers try ramming their own misinformed opinion down your throat in the manner of a guilt trip doesn’t help matters either. I could add that as the third hurdle to getting people on board with getting vaccinated.

Think about how that makes you all feel when we talk about gun ownership. Some people think the safest bet for the population as a whole would be for all of the law-abiding citizens to turn in all of their firearms but selfish bastards like us are the lingering problem. We are ruining it for everyone because we only care about ourselves. Meanwhile we look at them as idiots who know nothing about the topic while they spew uninformed, misguided, skewed stats and info. I know I’m comparing apples to oranges - but the approach is the same so it’s easy for me to see why it’s not working.

I’m not telling ANYONE not to get the vaccine. I’m just stating why I think a lot of people currently are passing on it.

This whole pandemic has been so politicized that it’s almost impossible to know if the information you’re getting is accurate or not. The same people that were ready to burn Trump at the stake for going places without a mask are the ones that came out and said they would never take some Trump vaccine that was pushed through at “warp speed” on his say so. Fauschi has to be dizzy he’s changed his mind and advice so many times. No mask, 1 mask, no mask, 3 masks.....cmon. We are the most divided I have ever seen this country and the powers that be have fueled that fire with info that has lives on the line. I weep for where we are as a country

I had the china virus and will not get the vax. Ii will take my chance with a 99.7% survival rate. By the way, where did the flu go?? Carry on.

These are the selfish citizens I'm talking about. How many people did you spread it to the 1st time you got it? Did you even bother to quarantine?

- - - Updated - - -

BTW, zoops...that was a great clip! Hilarious and on point.

So they spread it to someone close to them who then spread it to someone else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else, who spread it to some else,

AND then its spreads to one of your loved ones.

mrs johnr had it, I didn't get it. Buddy Clint had it, we shared fireball during the Sturgis rally, no one else sharing the house and drinking right out of the bottle got it, my daughter had it, I didn't get it.
Not sure if I am immune , or just have superior antibodies or what, but I have been surrounded by it, and not picked it up.

I there for cannot spread something I don't have, nor can I acquire it from the sick. Just lucky? maybe.

I will take the vaccine when available as I also take a yearly flu shot, really no reason not to.

But the 99.8% survival rate, sure doesn't justify the hell our country and the world just went through. It also doesn't justify every fucking Karen out there to be some mask nazi.

I got the second Pfizer shot last Wednesday. Knocked me on my ass for a day, but I still went to work, and was fine the next day. Didn't feel anything after the first shot. Both shots sure made my arm more sore than I have ever experienced from an injection.

Did you actually ever get tested or just assumed you didn't have it because you didn't have symptoms? One of the main issues with this whole thing was asymptomatic people going about business as usual and spreading it because they didn't think they were sick. That's kind of where the whole mask thing came in.

I find myself in the "not going to get it" group. I'm not real sure about a rushed vaccine, plus, I have been exposed to people since it began. Never really got a chance to hide out, and haven't gotten it yet. I think I'm going to trust my immune system. Not saying you shouldn't get it, but don't think I will anytime soon.

I wouldn't say the vaccine was rushed. I went through a training with a doctor who explained that the H1N1 Swine Flu was a COVID virus and they have had the vaccine ready for that. So they were actually able to weak and work with that vaccine to be effective against the COVID. This Dr. said that if we didn't have that vaccine, it would've taken the 8 to 10 years.

I am 55 and was able to get my vaccination as a EMS responder. Got my 2nd Pfizer shot last Friday. Felt good Friday...woke up with a mild sore shoulder, and what felt like minor symptoms like, but it was short lived. Feel great ever since!!!

Taken directly out of the dictionary:

vac·cine

/vakˈsēn/

noun
noun: vaccine; plural noun: vaccines

a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.

1. This shot doesn't provide immunity so it CAN'T be a vaccine, by definition!! It DOES NOT provide immunity and NOBODY has claimed it will. Including those who are pushing it. So why is it being called a vaccine???

2. Viruses mutate so fast that attempting to provide immunity to one virus at one point in time is useless as the virus will mutate into something else well before a vaccine can be developed for its previous form.

3. This shot is EXPERIMENTAL (mRNA) and hasn't been used before. I do not wish to participate in experimental and untried shots for something that threatens me with a < 0.05 % chance of mortality.

4. As this shot is EXPERIMENTAL it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell my what the effectiveness of this shot will be against the present virus or any future virus.

To get the shot or to not get the shot....hmmmmmmmmm

Dirty in the covid thread you stated you were not getting the vac as of now. Its one thing for the non medical professional to state hey i am not getting the shot.

But when your called a "medical professional" licensed or not - imo you have to take the vac for purposes of your interaction with patients and more so that you actually believe in art of practicing medicine also know as your business.

Otherwise let the country be free--- if you want to go to joebobs marine and cath lab with the latest and greatist in imaging -latest in hummingbird and lowrance CI. We will take care of your heart for the same kind of cash you would pay in india. Mo money 4 u to add a ranger or two to your inventory.

We all know who brought in the virus to the nursing homes - the workers. When they start hearing from medical professionals in the clinic and hospital that they are not taking the shot - they are not going to take the shot either and as a result it will just make a circle.

Have had the first shot and will take the second in about 2 weeks. No side affects for me although I do know a few who have had some. Nothing serious, just not feeling well for a couple days. Same for my wife. Of the people I know who had more side affects, they had also had covid. No idea if there is a correlation.

I donate blood every 13 weeks, so far every time I have donated, they say nope no antibodies. I can stick my tongue up mrs johnr's ass, and not get the most dangerous, contagious, scary sonsabitching disease ever.

Of all the places to put your tongue on a beautiful woman I’m very concerned that you chose the ass. You are not right.
