I'm in the industry...what you're saying or insinuating makes no sense.

Easy to say when you have no idea how its done! Plus who would everyone whine about when the river is a little to high or low for their liking?

And when this program can’t turn valves, detect leaks, verify meters are reading correctly, or maintain itself, you’ll end up paying a private programmer and contractor more than you’d pay an operator.

If you could completely automate a generating station, the private sector would’ve done it by now.

Each dam has a level meter that indicates what the level of water is, I didn't even need to look that up because common sense would tell me that if a level meter isn't used someone should be fired. Also between the noaa and the army corp that would have an edumicated guess to tell you what to expect for any wet season. Don't piss on my leg and tell me the dam is going to burst, oh can someone tell me the last time a dam burst because some army corp engineer didn't predict a significant increase in rainfall. As far as maintenance is concerned it would be way cheaper to sub it out to private contractors if maintenance needs to be done. I am presuming that is probably the case already, because everyone knows the feds hate to get their hands dirty. I voted for this

Yeah cause the corp did so good with garrison dam in 11. And yup sub would be WAY cheaper. My guess is most people working for wapa make over 100k...my guess also is its darn near double what the private sector counterpart makes. Its funny how people in the know will argue the private sector would have figured it out...yeah because the private sect9r is allowed to just throw a dam up for power generation....

You think the only meter in a powerhouse is a lake level meter? There’s private hydro out there as well. And private power utilities have a stake in the Garrison dam’s output as well, keeping your bills down. Room temperature IQ’s willing to bite the hand that feeds just to prove their republican-ness.

Tell me, what would you have done differently in 2011?

WAPA pays wage board I believe, negotiated to be lower than what the private sector makes.

Kdm said it best if there is money to be saved by cutting back federal government employees that is what i voted for. Bravo, you can whine and moan all you want,.if the government can run more efficiently with better component workers and still get the same results again I voted for that.

I guess I’d start by letting more water out over the winter and spring so you wouldn‘t have to break every water release record known to man. Just a thought.
