i spent 30 days in divide and williams county didn't see any dead deer but didn't see many numbers. I did see 3 dandy bucks in the cattails. one was crawling trying to sneak away pretty cool.

2H is down as well in our area. No doubt.

The amount of corn harvested is about the same as usual if not a little further along.

Saw a nice 4X buck today just north of the Killdeer Mtns.

Also several deer bunched up in the middle of a couple different sections over by Twin Buttes.

Flowers are coming off, almost all corn is off, weather is cooling down, we are in for a dandy deer hunting year.

Yeah i would honestly think the G&F would consider lowering the doe tag numbers to basically non existent to bring the herd back up. I am all for youth getting into hunting but maybe it is time to have a landowner sponsored youth season for does only? Farmers kill enough of the landscape with the destruction of habitat and if they want less deer then they can support the reduction even further.

And yes I know the G&F don't make the rules but maybe just once they could advocate for the deer herd during this upcoming legislative session?🤞

Where I'm hunting in east central ND I'm seeing similar numbers to the last 4 years. Counted 25 does and fawns on a scouting trip last weekend, all within an hour of sundown. 13 in one field alone. Probably a 5 mile stretch of gravel. Plenty on cam as well.

I'm stunned at how few deer we're seeing on camera in our hunting area (north of Killdeer). Summer numbers seemed normal - and now in Oct it's like they've vanished.

I was thinking it was due to poor acorn output and alfalfa staying green so long. Could just be the odd year (weather) and it's simply a case of their not walking past the cameras like they normally do. Maybe they'll change their behavior back to normal once it gets cold.

Hope it's not an EHD outbreak again like we had three years back. It was a pretty major wipeout for us like it was along the Missouri.

Anybody else seeing a sudden drop in activity out west?
I was surprised you didn't have many acorns. we have tons of them this year. The deer numbers are down here too, steady decline over the last few years but the elk are thriving. Makes me wonder if the deer like to shy away from elk .

Interesting about the elk.

Wow - The acorns in our backyard are way down - and same out west. I thought it was a poor acorn year state-wide.

Deer were sure out this morning. I’ve become pretty complacent in the last 2 - 3 years not having to keep a constant eye out for them on the roads to work, but today they were really moving.

Elk are thriving? Where at? My buddy has been all over E5 looking for a cow elk for his wife to shoot. People saw them a month ago...but now seem to be playing hide and seek.

I have a couple pear trees in my yard, most years there are 10,000 pears on them, this year I picked up one tiny one, zero apples on my little honey crisp, chock cherry trees were about half.

Been in this house for close to ten years, and this is the worst the fruit trees have ever produced.
