My 04 duramax was the same, rough ride and could let it run 20 mins before even taking off and still took about 5 miles running some Rpms before would throw heat. Wasn't a fan of the $5.05Yep, I had a 2009 that was my daily driver for several years. Only a couple of complaints though.
1. Rough riding SOB!
2. Even with a grill cover (factory), it wouldn't really warm up all that well idling in the driveway. It took 15-20 minutes of driving to get it warmed up in the winter. Note: I live 15 minutes from work, so not ideal.
3. You eventually just learn to park at the back of most parking lots.
I never really thought it was an expensive vehicle to maintain. Oil and fuel filter changes were about $340. Oil and fuel filter change on my 2021 is closer to $670, which is insane!
#1 fuel when prices were up. Was using daily for ice fishing pulling trailer. Was going thru a lot of fuel. Tough to beat the power though.
Another terrible flaw they had was the fuel filter. What a pure shit design that was. No way in hell were you changing that outside in a winter storm if you gelled. Spin on canister like the Ford was a breeze, had to do that twice on the work truck when cold weather snuck in on me.
Dumb question because don't deal with diesel anymore, but does Def do anything as far as gel prohibiting ( at all) ?
