320c cat, only took me an hour. We dropped it off and used gps in dark of night to get to spot. They gave me cash and Budweiser. You will never catch me coppers......

I'd like to address getting more fans/spectators out to watch the weigh ins. My wife and I attended the weigh in one of the days. And have in previous tourneys held out at Grahams' Island as well. My advice...a tournament that bills itself as Professional, I would think more can be done from the fan/spectator aspect of the weigh in process. Is there a reason, when fish are weighed for example..a camera can't point to the basket of fish and shown on a large screen near the front of the weigh in trailer for all to see? Doing that..plus..how hard would it be to also have on a big screen the totals of the weights as they are being weighed? To see how a team is either moving up or down the leaderboard. It SHOULD NOT be that hard to use an infocus type machine that transfers laptop info onto a big screen. By doing these small improvements it SHOULD make attendance at weigh in's more spectator friendly. We do not want to watch some Master of Ceremony talk and watch fisher person after fisherperson come across stage and put their fish in a hidden from the crowd basket.....most of which we can not see. Sorry fella's but the spectators come out to SEE the fish. Rant over. My. 02;:;rant

To me fishing isn't much of a spectator sport. I've went to a few weigh-ins in the 90's because it was new to me. Instantly bored. I agree with what you said, but there are other ways to spice them up as well. Have a good feed or a good food booth, or maybe some vendors selling some cool t-shirts, lures, etc. I'm not sure how to market these events, but they really don't market their product very well. I'm not sure how to spark interest when their prime demographic, (guys like me who walleye fish and spend $$ doing it) are turned off by the whole scene.

i agree roosters. i was there thursday. there tables out front were about half full. probably 100 people total watching and some were probably in the tourney. until i read your post, i was actually disappointed in our community for how we fail to support those weigh ins. however, you are spot on... they are boring as shit after you watch about 10 of them. Master of Ceremony blabs (he is damn good at it). some of the fishermen talk. some are damn good spokesmen. some not so good. then he tells you how many pounds they weighed. i needed my phone to track the leaderboard. so, on second thought, they certainly could do more to make it a bit more fan friendly. first and foremost... put up a stand so i can purchase an ice cold beverage of my choice. ;)

Could be worse. It could be that "other" tourney where there is no weigh in and just pics.

I haven't seen or heard anything lately. Hwy 281 is not under water any longer either. Unless the wind is howling, a person could walk and atv and maybe vehicle drive it as the waters is down a lot.
