I would suspect the persons posting the video on the internet were not in the vehicle, and possibly not connected. I would think some sort of charges would and should apply. Are bears protected in ND? I find it morally repugnant, but am curious as to what stories get spun out of this incident.

They are listed as a furbearer in ND

20.1-01-02. Definitions. In this title, unless the context otherwise requires:
  1. 18. "Furbearers" includes mink, muskrats, weasels, wolverines, otters, martens, fishers, kit or swift foxes, beavers, raccoons, badgers, wolves, coyotes, bobcats, lynx, mountain lions, black bears, and red or gray foxes.

20.1-07-03. Fur-bearing animals which are protected not to be taken or disturbed during closed seasons. No person may hunt, shoot, trap, or take, in this state, any furbearer, except during the open or lawful season thereon as established under section 20.1-07-04 or 20.1-08-02.

20.1-07-06. Unlawful possession of furbearers -

Each violation is a distinct offense. No person may unlawfully:

  1. Kill, take, attempt to take, possess, transport, accept for transportation, buy, sell, offer for sale, barter, or otherwise dispose of any fur-bearing animal or any part thereof.
  2. Take or attempt to take any furbearer outside a regularly prescribed season or without a license or as provided in section 20.1-07-04, or violate any of this chapter.

These guys are idiots but how many on here have chased down a fox or coyote run it over and or shot it ?
I would bet over 70% of the people on here have chased a Fox or Coyote with a Vehicle or Snowmobile. I'm sure most would never admit it. Because no one has ever broken the law. Except the fricking nonresidents.

We will see how law enforcement handles this one. If he was breaking laws, which i believe he was, he needs to pay the consequences for his actions. He seems bat shit crazy

I was thinking this same thing and about the wolf the guy ran down with a sled, injured, then took to the bar in WY. There were plenty of folks on that thread that didn’t think it was too big of a deal. Regardless, it all makes us look bad. The idiots doing this are considered hunters even though they may not have even had a license. Stupid people.

This guy that shot the bear needs to do some research on black bears he should definitely be charged it wasn't hurting anything
Yeah that's just dumb a single bear that wondered from pembima hills or turtle mountains an to run it down with a rig is retarded. It's open fields in that langdon area I'm saying there is nowhere to hid in that area. The animal would find habitat back were it come from .

Used to be common but when I was young it was legal. Of course not everyone owned snowmobiles then. That and nobody had a camera to record the act. Today, everything about this act, from chasing, driving off trail, shooting from vehicle, and even though a bear may be listed as a furbearer, I`'ve never seen it listed the open season list.

Only animal I've ever chased down with a vehicle is a mouse with the lawn mower. He got decapitated for the crime of trespassing!

This guy should be punished just for being a dumbass!

Just had a confrontation with this guy a couple months back about flying his american flag upside down for no reason as I was driving by his place in the country.. He's a vet and suffers from ptsd and glad I didn't get out of my vehicle when he offered me to come up up for coffee to talk about it in his house as I did pull into his driveway and thought about shit twice..
I've heard the whole story now(truth and facts)...he was scared for his family's safety as his wife has a daycare, scared for his neighbors, his chickens got wiped out, and bear marked up his mailbox and neither law enforcement or game warden seemed to give a shit or do a Damn thing it whatsoever..
Im not sure what to think or how I feel about the whole situation in the end but every once in awhile, I do have to step back and put myself in someone else's shoes at the same time. Local game warden and/or law enforcement should have been out there ASAP with a tranquilzer gun and trailer, I don't care what anybody says, if kids lives are in danger that's "the end of story" as Paul Harvey would say.. We shall see!
