East End Lake Sakakawea

I am hearing reports of a good bite on the east end. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm am thinking of heading up there next weekend as the river south of Bismarck is crazy with boats.

There were ~a dozen boats in the very NE corner against the N shore and Hwy 83 on Thursday afternoon and 3 on Friday afternoon. That's just what I saw as I drove by, no idea if anyone caught anything. Saw another 5-6 boats between the Garrison turn and Minot on Thurs and 3-4 headed S on Friday.

Couple weeks ago I was fishing south of the madness, and did not get a bite. If they are catching them, they're localized in that small area.

Carey at 6 mile has been saying it has been real good for a couple weeks now. Fish the humps. 15-30 fow. Real slow with jig and minnow.

I tried to fish the humps today and got slapped.

The whole east end is good. Use jigs n minnows, fish humps and shorelines in 2-12 feet of water.

Get the no color lead head jig out on the east end. Move about as slow as you can. Ez limit.

Any guesses as to how long before they spawn? What are the water temps like?

I was on Sakakawea Thursday near Garrison Bay....water temps 39-41. Think they gotta climb north of 45 for the spawn, but I'm sure it can vary depending on the body of water.
