Finding dead ones this week laying in the creeks while harvesting. A person can't catch a break, I don't remember it being like this when I was a kid. Now it's every 2 or 3 years, pisses a person off. And we are WEEKS away from a hard frost, it's going to be brutal!

I literally had this conversation with a buddy yesterday. Said with the rampant drought again, I was just waiting for the first EHD news.

I'm going to say it because it needs to be said: We need more habitat and we need wetlands. Things aren't getting better if we do nothing. They certainly appear to be getting worse, though.

STATE WITHDRAWS LICENSES BECAUSE OF EHD OUTBREAK
South Dakota is already changing deer hunting regulations because of an ongoing hemorrhagic disease outbreak. South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks says it is receiving reports of EHD and blue tongue in deer at varying levels across the state, and the agency is using reports of dead deer to determine which areas are being hit hardest.
So far, 62 licenses are being removed from the fourth combined deer draw. That includes 60 licenses in West River unit 24A13 and 2 licenses in East River unit 47A13. Hunters in heavily impacted areas may also be able to return their licenses and receive a full refund along with their preference point being reinstated.
