When I first heard this on the radio I thought that I had just misunderstood it, after checking into it a bit I guess I heard right. About a week ago there was a brief segment on 550 a.m. about the Grand Forks Air Force Base taking in approximately 150 Syrian refugees. I talked with an "acquaintance" who works on the base. He said that they are remodeling a segment of houses on the base, putting up a security fence around it (to keep them off the base I guess) and will be housing and "schooling" them for about 6 weeks before transitioning them out. He didn't know where out was? When I mentioned that I thought that ND wasn't taking any refugees he said that the Base is Federal Property not State (which I knew) and that they can bring them in either way? Also stated that it has been done like this down south for years.
Guess I am kind of venting because I don't agree with it and it pissed me off that it was happening and that there has been really no mention of it in the media! Anyone else hear about this or has it been out for a while and I am just the last one to hear about it?
