Finding open water

Jw if there is any place down south that a guy could look to catch some fish anytime soon. South Dakota southern Minnesota how far does a person need to go? My boat looks awfully lonely for the water

I've only fished the race from shore once in my life. If I was closer I'd probably have a flip over mounted on my boat. Can you catch enough for supper pretty much any time of the year or is it seasonal ?

I have never fished it in the winter but I have seen boats in it every time I drive by it in the winter so I'm guessing they are catching something

Rivers open to Bismarck. Misty has open river but the boat ramp may well still be locked in still. If it gates as warm as they say she should clear up fast.

The main channel is open. Navigable, yes. Fishable, no.

Rainy River is starting to open up. Should only be another 10-days or so and there will be people fishing.

May have to skip back several days, but this map shows ice pack on the water systems.
Looks like Nebraska is your best bet for the Missouri River system. ;:;rofl

Water temp is almost 33.5 degrees

Was in Eureka, SD yesterday, and on the way back followed 1804. Saw pretty much no open water south of Bismarck. Couple little areas (full of geese) here and there.

Drove down by the interstate boat ramp today. The channel is clear and the ice in the slack water is going fast. At this rate the ramp could get cleared by the weekend. Unfortunately they mad a wall with snow when they plowed the parking lot blocking of the ramp.

Talked to one of the city guys at fox (which is ready too) tand he made it sound like not this week till I pointed out she's all but clear to the north so he was going to talk yo the boys I guess so will have to wait and see.

Well fox has been cleared off.......well....errr ..sort of. definitely some big ass car sized chunks hanging just of the pavement. Won't take long to float out.



No work at 94 yet.
