If you plan on fishing blue plater waters yet this season, ya best hurry as last years license for most species expires on Feb. 28th. Looks like Fishing Opener is set for May 13th. Man, I remember what a huge deal that is every year.
I am not sure what side of the fence I am on concerning ND season..as in..24/7, 365 days a year(just have to buy a new license each season).
I am sure there are pissing matches both for and against the season not closing here.#$%^&>:fishon:;:;popcorn

I agree with slot size and closed seasons. It would make fish grow bigger. Also make Devils Lake and the Missouri River system trophy areas where no walleye over 24 inches could be kept. Also, the limit of walleye should be 3 in those areas. There.

Whoa, some strong words here.... yeesh. I mostly fish the MO. When I was a kid, there was no season, up to the first vehicular crossing. Why do you think we used pop cans for bobbers on one side of the bridge, and regular bobbers on the other...?

probably the best idea i have heard. Other than the liberal limit of 3 unless that is per season than i would agree with that

I will no doubt catch some grief over this, but I believe it is a fair way of dealing with fishing seasons. I think that when your fishing season – for the majority of Lakes and Rivers – closes in your state, it closes in North Dakota for those wanting to fish here from that state until the season opens up againin the spring. I want the same courtesy offered to me – being able to fish in your state during this time -- as it is offered to you coming to fish in North Dakota. It only seems fair and just as we do not need our lakes and rivers pounded on because you cannot fish in your state. This could be made species dependent too. Either that, or make it resident only from March 1[SUP]st[/SUP] until the first weekend in May. My thoughts. Thanks.

I would prefer nonresidents being required to wear yellow pants, and maybe slots and stuff for them

Everybody has an idea of what is best for the fish. Most are not supported by biological data. Fish are like all other wildlife, if you have enough habitat (water) and food (baitfish), fisherman with current rules and limits will do quite well. Over fishing on the smaller bodies of water is possible but on the big lakes, not so likely. Look around on the big lakes on any given day and there are spots on the lake where a boat isn't even visible. Hard to overfish a lake when there are fish that have never seen a hook.

This argument has been going on for years and I haven't seen a decrease in the fishing on most bodies of water in this state. Where there is a decrease it's usually a result of less water. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Then again, it's closer to spring so it's time to start another argument, even one's that come up every spring. The one idea I do kind of like is the one where if you come from a state that closes the season for a period of time, the same rule applies to you in this state. At least that's one I haven't heard before.

I agree with Jeff 100%. Other states closing is just like a magnet for them to come to ND waters. We don't need there tourism dollars, that much to damage our fisheries.
