So, I got this going for me.

Anyone else ever pull a stunt like this?

OK, so not a dermatologist or any kind of medical professional here, but I have concerns as someone who has now had a very long running battle with UV exposure and is of similar European heritage, knock it off. That is not a good thing, ask your Gilligan to query me about the spots on my arms when we cross paths this week. The battle is winnable, but unpleasant.

I wear a big floppy bucket hat on the days in the boat, keeps it off my face neck, and shoulders.

Otherwise my arms are exposed with minimal screen if ever.

Regrets will likely be had.

50spf ultra sweatproof is what I put on religiously....fair skin and burn very easy. I don't want skin cancer but I'm sure it's coming.

I went to Simms and AFTCO hoodies years ago.

Wear the hood over a cap for a visor and keep the hood from blowing into your eyes - sometimes under the cap if the wind is blowing like MOFO.

A little dab of 50 spf sunscreen on the nose/cheeks, lips - and a spot on the hands and you're covered.

Works well on fish flies when wind calms down too.

A light colored hoodie with long sleeves is actually cooler than not wearing one... if you’re worried about the heat and that keeps you from trying one.

Do not wear a short shirt under it unless you're cold. That double layer thing gets outrageously hot.

I have been using SPF 50 or greater when out in the sun for quite a few years now. But I've also had numerous spots on my neck and arms burned off by nitrogen due to pre-cancerous spots that show up.

One of the best things to come out as far as fishing gear for me have been the SPF shirts intended for anglers. They aren't anything like the long-sleeved western shirts I had to wear on the farm back in my younger days, these are much more comfortable. I still struggle with a face cover, like the neck gaiters, they're just too clingy. A couple of months ago I had to go through a round of Efudex for my face, that was fun.

As I alluded to earlier, most skin cancers not spelled "melanoma" are pretty treatable, but it's not pleasant.

Usually wear the long sleeve fishing shirts when fishing but nothing out golfing. I hate sunscreen also so don't use. It will probably catch up with me soon. You would think I would learn because golf bud has had numerous cancer spots removed.

Don't forget to put sunscreen under your chin/chest of open shirt. Water reflects the UV rays upward.
Got sunburn sitting in the shade near the water years ago. I don't make that mistake anymore.
