Swaddles worked for our 2. They woke up occasionally but most nights slept straight through. Also had a fan running for some white noise.

Swaddles, schedule, the right formula/ breast milk, and chiropractor. Our first was colicky and spent alot of nights in the recliner with him, but taking him to the chiropractor really helped.

I have a nine month old daughter. The first two months neither my wife or I slept, she seemed ok during the day but was extremely colicky all night long. Doc made a random comment at two months about dairy. We ended up cutting all dairy out of our diets. I eat what she eats. Three days in she started sleeping through the night and still does. We also needed to supplement with formula, it took awhile but we found a couple void of all dairy.

My daughter liked to rock in the recliner. My son was a piece of cake. He just slept. Now at 12 and 9 there reversed. Go figure

Congrats! My wife is a nurse in the Nicu in Minot. We had our baby in March, so she's been gone for a little while.

Also, I second Dirty's comment. I see quite a few little ones in my clinic for the same thing.

If they're on boobie milk, make sure momma is caffeine free, COMPLETELY, that'll cure a lot if she's a coffee/diet coke/Mt Dew fiend. Swaddles worked well for us also. Both of ours were good sleepers outta the gate but momma was caffeine free from the day she suspected knockedupedness.

3 kids. All slept all night. 8pm to 8am. They get it from mom. That woman can sleep!

All 3 of ours were sleeping through the night within a few days of getting home from the hospital. Had a few nights here and there that were not all nighters. Seemed like keeping them on a schedule with feeding times helped and we did not hesitate to try a 2nd bottle to make sure they were full.

Well after 61 days in the NICU, my best fishing buddies Clay and Jordy are home! They've been home for a month and my wife and I are in full zombie mode. The sun goes down and their heads start spinning. What have you had luck with for calming a fussy baby at 3am? I've had some luck driving them around.

If you think it is excessive, talk to your pediatrician about acid reflux in babies. Yes, it is a real thing and can be easily taken care of with Zantac by prescription for an infant. It was a WORLD of difference for my son!

Yep, sound machine works wonders. Cheap ones didn't work so well.

chiropractor treatment worked well too for the little ones.

I'm not against getting a quick fix for heartburn, but a baby on Zantac sounds awful. All you're really doing is covering the problem up. Their digestion is too important at this juncture to start throwing meds at it. Obviously I am a bit biased, but get that kids mid back adjusted and they'll come out of it.

Halo swaddle sacks, put on a nighttime diaper for overnight, and a sound machine has really helped us. Our baby was really fussy and had a ton of gas that just wasn't going away, so we had her checked and she was tongue and lip tied, which we had lasered by a specialist. Also, took her into a chiropractor in order to get her aligned, her back was really out. Finally, we switched to Similac Gentlease formula and now she's been really happy and sleeping through the nights . . . finally!! Not sure of your exact situation, but there are options out there to help, I know we were at the point of wanting to try anything that would help.

Caffeine, caffeine, caffeine. Caffeine paralyzes the pyloric sphincter @ the top of the stomach allowing gastric juices to overflow/backflow and cause heartburn. It's worse when you're horizontal, which babies are, until you pick them up. Doesn't matter how old or young you are.

1.) Swaddle
2.) We had good luck with the sound machines + projector/lights on the ceiling or wall next to them. It really seemed to help them self sooth and fall back asleep.
3.) 4Moms Mamaroo was a life saver on a few nights. However, our daughter seemed not want anything to do with it after 4 months. I would probably still consider it a good purchase because of the # of nights it seemed like the only answer.

Little Tummies Gripe Water did wonders for our colicky baby. We would add a small amount to each bottle of formula and it made a world of difference. Worth every penny.

Chiro will help with the reflux, crabbiness and ear infections. Noise machines, when turned up loud enough, may drown out the cries to help you sleep:::. Swings and those tightly wrapped swaddle deals helped with all 3 of ours, until one of the little bastages got their arm wriggled free, then they'd wake up. Had to wrap em tight.

Glad I'm done with that stuff. Good luck. I still wonder why people have more than one kid, bitch about not sleeping for 6-10 months, then forget all about it a few months later and start over.

Various things worked for us, at various stages.
The worst ever was at a hotel in Fargo one over night trip. Little one would not quit. Neighbors called the front desk - felt bad I did. I ended up driving around Fargo half the night, and then sleeping in the car with her the other half. Not much fun.

With both of my kids when they would wake up at night I would swaddle them up real tight, hold them and bounce up and down on one of those yoga balls. Did that for naps too when they wouldn't go down seemed to work real well but was rough on the back after a few weeks.

The kid had been in for chiro at the one over in Mandan at the gal's place who kinda specializes in pregnant women and kids, but Zantac was the ticket. I think he had to be on it for about 10-12 weeks before he outgrew the need for it. They prescribe a pretty mild dose that is based on the kid's weight, once the Zantac kicked in he was gaining a pound a week. After having really struggled the first month, or so before starting the Zantac.

You could EASILY tell when he outgrew his existing prescription and needed an increase based on his weight. Night and day kind of difference!
