Note, my apricots have also all failed...for whatever reason. The trees grow fine, but the fruit gets little pin prick holes that I assume are bugs of some kind. Might just be the wind, but since the majority of the fruit get ruined...I suspect fruit flies.

We have two Apricot tree and normally the fruit is the size of nickels. Last year I routed the water from are sump pump to both trees. The fruit was the size of quarters last year. This year we have more blossoms they ever before. The trees have been producing for 5 yrs now.

I hate to break it to you, but if there are cedars or junipers within a half mile of your place, the juneberries will not do well. I planted juneberries up north of Bismarck and a few at my current place. Most of the berries dry up prematurely into little hard black rocks.

The cause is cedar-apple rust.

Yeah, its a risk, I do have some juneberry out there that ive gotten berries from that were planted earlier and they didnt get hit too bad, I suppose it depends a bit on the year and environmental conditions also. I think it can be controlled with sprays but thats added expense and cost as well.

probably plum curculio, if the holes have kind of a half moon type shape. You can really grow much fruit anymore without managing pests unfortunately. My aronia and black currants are probably my least affected fruits but everything else gets hit without some prevention.

I have a question. I had 2 apricot trees that were producing well. I lost one of them in last June's wind storm. Am I SOL with just having the one?

I am now at least 5 years in on a Honeycrisp apple tree that does not flower. The tree is healthy as can be, but will not blossom. Is this tree needing to be replaced?

I planted it specifically to get apples, as one would assume, however its giving me the finger season after season.

My honeyberries have matured too early for SWD to get to them here in the east

sour cherries - not so much
its kinda a crap shoot for me, some years the haskap are ripe before swd, other years not, I think it depends a lot on how harsh of a winter we have, if theres not much snow cover the ground gets cold enough to kill larvae, but if they dont die from freezing, they get going a few weeks earlier typically.

some varieties need a pollinator I think. you might want to either graft another variety onto your tree or just get a seedling apricot from soil conservation and plant it somewhere in the area to give pollen, they are only a couple bucks, if you have room to add it. Doesnt have to be right next to it, but line of sight is good so insects bounce around between them.

honeycrisp is a low vigor variety and its not uncommon to not get fruit for 5 to 7 years after planting. you might want to get a soil test done to see if there are an deficiencies. If you have grass around it I would put down a layer of manure out to the drip line and then put 3-4 inches of wood chips on top of that. should give it a nice boost and speed things along. The happier they are usually the sooner youll get fruit. my cousin has some apple trees in his yard that were planted the same time as 2 ive got in my yard and his trees are about 1/3 the size of mine, he doesnt fertilize them and just has them planted in grass and they grow VERY slowly.
