My dad was a drunken bum of a dad/husband. So was his dad.

Then my dad found Jesus... and turned his life around but proceeded to choose Jesus over his three boys after that.

It's probably a good thing I don't have any sons - at least the curse ends here. 😏
most addicts are all in one way another, they do not know what moderation is. I know a guy that went from a complete alcoholic to a deacon in the catholic church. I don't associate with him anymore, not because he doesn't drink it's because he tries to push his religion on everyone.

You guys are making me feel old. I went to school on a sled behind a horse, and walked 100 yards to an outhouse. Entertainment when I was preschool was dragging a snared gopher home behind my tricycle to show mom what a great trapper I was. Walked the prairie pasture digging up plants to see if anything besides onions had a bulb. My first grade teacher didn't appreciate my breath. He also didn't appreciate having to end one school day early because I drained the crock water jug to drown out a gopher and kill it.

Does anyone remember all the cheap toys at the "Dime Store"? Mom would be upset with me because the wind up toys got my curiosity going and I would take them apart to see how they worked. I did the same thing with slow animals. Then at seven years old I was allowed to use dad's bolt action 22 Marlin. Then faster animals piqued my curiosity. I once had a judge make me write a 500 word essay on muscrats because the warden thought a disected muscrat the warden found was my work. It wasn't, it was a local my dad wouldn't let trap on our land because I trapped it. He was the one who told the warden he seen me. I was about 10 years old.

I didnt believe in Tarzan, I thought I was him. I remember walking prairie and woodlands with a spear made of an old garden hoe wishing something would come after me.

I truly enjoyed the stories of my great grandparents and other family members growing up. Listening to the stories of the kids waiting in the truck for dad to come out and drive home.

Yup 100% agree. Its very interesting. It goes along the same with the stories aboit Vietnam etc. Something I have never experianced and never will. Its definetly a learning experiance and makes me greatfull for what I have. Also give me utmost respect for what they lived through.

Even though the boomers endured a lot of new things in their lifetimes, they really did have a great time to be a young American. The shit they could get away with that would never fly today
