I remember one of those very rifles being delivered and placed into the old style premium cases we had @ Scheels in Forks in the mid-late 90's. It was pre ubiquitous LRF days and I LUSTED after that piece. Alas, that and a few others evaded the poor college student me in those days. That's one of those rifles that sort of sticks with me and I believe in the ~30yrs since I saw the 1st one, I've only ever seen 2 others actually for sale and neither followed me home, so, the back of my mind long-ago lust still lingers a bit.
Ha ha I know you've always complimented me on it! So glad I traded off that 7mm sendero for it that's for sure! If I come across another I'll let you know. ;)

Idk, if I look through the arsenal I have a hard time waxing nostalgia like many of you. My memories and want to shoot the old iron has wained substantially. Have a 308 Remington 760 pump that was my dad’s. Of course the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree so I cut my teeth throughout my teens and 20s on a 30-06 7600. Had no idea how much I hated that cannon till later in life.

Not surprising, it took till my later 30s to figure out shooting rifle didn’t need to be a punishment after purchasing my first 6.5 man bun for my daughter in a Ruger American tac driver. Low recoil, easy to shoot, and deadly accurate out past 500 yds. 8 deer later between me and both kids, that sucked me in to wanting a long range gun which in turn lead me to a Fierce Firearms Carbon CT in a 6.5 PRC topped with a nightforce NX8 4x32. Was looking for a mountain gun, light, compact, deadly accurate and yet fun to ping steel at the range. Far and away the funnest and most enjoyable rifle in the case. I’ll take new with great optics everyday of the week!

Loved the 6.5 PRC caliber but didn’t want a bunch of the same so when my son got his youth buck tag a few years ago and it was time to find him a good life time rifle, settled on a browning xbolt in a 7mm-08 topped with a vortex viper pst 5x25 power scope. So far he’s 3 for 3 with it tagging out this year with a 542 yd shot on a nice buck. Was sure fun and will be a life long memory sitting beside him all those days as the tagless guide and pack mule, lol. Awfully fun being the glass guy to range and call the shot and watch him connect after a few years of practicing out to 500 yds. Way to make the old man proud!

So my favorite, for sure my fierce 6.5 PRC and as it should be for $$, but the 7mm08 doesn’t suck and if I’m honest, that $800 fully setup Ruger American 6.5 man bun is what really started it for me.

I have one that was my grandpa’s a ruger. If remm would have spun it right the 243 would not be near as popular.
I agree. I had one for years. I very good friend talked me out of it for his son. It was a 700 ADL with a compact 6X Leupold. If I still had it that would be my go to rifle.
