if you've never blown a short reed before I would suggest starting with a cheaper call like a buck gardner Canada hammer. short reeds aren't incredibly challenging to learn but I've known plenty of musically challenged people who go with the 200.00 t.g. call only to sell it to me for half price because they suck so bad. . . . . . on second thought you should probably get a really expensive call.:;:thumbsup
and also the whole concept of "broke in guts" imo is a hoax as well. all they are is a groove or machined notch in the tone board that "was broke in by the pros" in reality if you use a call for a year or two the vibration from the reed will wear a channel into the board hence "breaking it in" to your own style of calling and air pressure. don't let the Kool-Aid crowd fool ya
