We had them on the farm when I was growing. Shot at them with the BB gun and my dad would get mad. Only bird that doesn't bother the crops. They take care of the flying vampires

When ever I mow the yard, which is once a week and about 4 hectors, always have a dozen or two swooping skitters around the mower. Drives my lab nuts.

Grew up shooting them off the wires in our yard. Never knew how many mosquitos they ate. Now the only time they bother me is when they nest on the house. Instead of trying to knock down the nest and have them rebuild the next day I read where you can crush a pop, or other beverage can, and place it in the nest. They haven't come back with that trick.

Amazing how they can be here one day and gone the next. They must bunch up and all migrate together.

As a kid they would sit on that wire in bunches. Big time if rain was coming. Did not dare shoot the red ryder at one as if mom found out there goes the red ryder. db
