I'm a 1911 fan, I don't know what got me started on them. I tend to carry plastic pistols and use them more but if i'm just out shooting for enjoyment i grab a 1911. I was able to get one of the CMP 1911's and the one i have was rebuilt multiple times and it looks like the serial number had to be restamped at least once due to wear and refinishing i'm assume. It's nice to hold them and wonder the stories they could tell. Same reason i enjoy my old m1 garand.

I really like these. Haven’t shot one…yet.

I’m ok with a 9 mm and the proper ammo. Factory “Defensive” ammo has come a long way. 40 being my optimal CCW cal. At least for me. Although I’m not against a 9…or even a 380 to be completely honest.

I've shot one a couple of times and really liked it for the price especially. It was a little finickier with the ammo. It didn't like some stuff the guy had from freedom munitions. That ammo functioned in the other 1911's but the prodigy did not like it but functioned great on other ammo. I gave my buddy a lot of crap about buying it because i didn't like the frame on it and because it was a double stack. Now i pretty much can never buy one or i'll never hear the end of it from him.

I retired in '11. I see since then they changed to de-cocker down. Gay.

I’d have to see the guard SOP to believe it’s written in to have the safety off.

I won’t believe that. Not one bit.

Not that it matters,

Anything is possible, it is the Air Force
It took a little digging since my AFI’s I generally dealt with was 31-2226 and 31-2227 being a CATM instructor but I did finally find it in an older pre-M18 version of AFI 31-129 dated back to 2016. If you look at the bottom under A2.3.5 you will see that it prescribes moving the decocking lever up to the fire position.
To be honest, I always loved the phrase, “show me the reg” right up until the 1st Shirt actually did. 🥴

I could walk up to a clearing bbl right now; "lever down" then: slap, send, show "red", holster. I could do it in a single fluid motion. If it was a new clearing bbl guy, I'd always ask "ready?" If your finger is outside the gd trigger guard, the gun ain't going to fire.

I'm not aware of any external "hammer blow" incidents with the M9.

...or the SW M15. We carried a full cylinder of 158grn totally ineffective bullshit with 12 backup rds.

I still think it's a beautiful piece with adjustable sights:
