While living in Sitka Alaska a long while back, we would have Tsunami drills. Alarm would go off and everyone would go to higher ground. I've never seen a tsunami happen, but know of people that have. It is like our tornado warnings. A lot of people do not train or prepare for it, and blow it off. Until it actually happens and people die, then say how tragic, just like here with tornados.

More often than not they try to blame the government (or someone else) for their lack of preparedness, followed by putting their hand out for government money.

Interesting video, looks like high tide receding. Kinda surprised nothing huge wave size wise.

I sat thru 6.8 quake in Anchorage early 80's,17 seconds.... we went to "earthquake park" along the gulf/ inlet near town where mounds of earth heaves from th1960' 8.3? Quake destroyed Anchorage,we hoped to see a giant wave roll in,no such luck.

Perhaps since the quake was on the other side of the pacific, energy of the quake weakened before it did any sort of damage.
