Who is sponsoring this bill . Good lord . Before the current law was passed there would be campers setting in the SW corner for weeks with out of state plates on them . The current law seemed to really alleviate that .
I don’t see what the problem is with the current law either. There is no maximum on how many days you can hunt upland. All this bill would do is reduce license sales and revenue. If you’re able to spend more than 14 days hunting in ND and can afford to be away from your home and job that long I highly doubt having to buy another license is a major obstacle.

Grrrrr reminds me of on my way back from an elk hunt my friend and I stopped for a couple hours at our favorite prairie dog town. Out in the middle of it was two vehicles and a big 5th wheel. On public land and this young rancher shows up and they are his client. When he found out we had been elk hunting he proceeds to tell us about the six big bulls he has shot with deptedation permits. Left a real bad taste for a long time.

To maintain revenue, the cost of a license would have to go up. Would we be pricing out the guy who wants to bring a couple of kids from out of state to hunt here, in favor of people who have the time and money to spend weeks or even months here?

I had heard rumor that the department was going to introduce a bill to increase licenses across the board.. has any one saw anything on that yet?

Id be all in for n.r license increase. It wont hurt the guys that hunt up hear annually. Why not? So those guys get acess with there money. So look at states like wyoming uped there big game fees 2 fold 1100 dollars for deer and elk. Why does nd have to be the economy tag?

Our resident fees and rates are ok, but the NR fees need to increase to at least where adjacent states NR fees are. ND is a great state for the outdoorsman, but we are losing that level due to leasing, electronic posting, flooding of NR fishing & hunting, and lack of habitat by intensive farming land use.
Talking to NR hunters & fishermen, they consider ND a bargin compared to other states.
Leave the resident fees where they are (just raised a while ago), and raise the non-resident prices to at least double. (Screw the ND Tourism Dept)! We live here, pay taxes here, spend our dollars here, and want to be rewarded "the great ND outdoors" here!

Oh I’m 110% for it. The rumor I had heard was a 50/50 split across the board for resident and nonresident numbers.
I would be more in favor of 70-75% NR and 25-30% on residents.

Looking at the other states that I hunt, North Dakota nonresident licenses are extremely reasonable.

This is spot on. I recall this same discussion from many years back. And someone said “if you want the benefits of ND and the outdoors then move here and live here instead of expecting a cheap nonresident license” fast forward to today and I know quite a few people from other states who have moved here and are melting into the culture of lifestyle of ND. Whenever you ask why they chose ND They always say because of the outdoor opportunities. How many tax dollars are spent locally by a relocated family as opposed to a group spending a couple hundred every year? What is the economic impact on small towns when a few families move into the community as opposed to catering to a revolving door of strangers here on vacation? The tourism dept wants to sell tickets to the circus while what we should be focusing on is coming here for the lifestyle. Double the NR license cost and leave the resident license as is.

Wouldn't it be nice if our GNF & elected officials actually listened to his/her constituents instead of worrying about the almighty dollar and his/her reputation? jeez that'd be something being it's our state and we obviously don't live here for the weather..

Funny how much they could actually learn if they listened to the folks living it and witnessing it every single day and season.. JS'N
(I know this task is farrrrr too much to ask of them btw..) still have an amazing state for sure but can and should always be better for the actual citizens who actually reside here 100%! See:SD

Double even triple the costs and it will hardly slow anything down. It may stop or lower the numbers but there will be someone right behind them willing to pay the fees. Look at Idaho, they raised prices of NR deer/elk tags significantly and those tags are selling out within 48 hours where 10 years ago licenses would be available most of the season.

I watched some of the Bismarck advisory board meeting from a couple months ago and the deputy director was saying that license fees are likely going up and that they'll be across the board, that it wouldn't be fair to put it all on nonresidents and someone in the audience said "why not?" I chuckled a bit.

In 2020 i bought my elk tag in July with many still left. Then they changed the system and for some reason every one went crazy and they sell out in hours now. My brother who lives took pictures of people camping infront of game and fish office days before the draw opened.
