Insurance is a neccessary? evil in today's world. You can get ins. for just about everything: home, health, life, vehicle, pets, flight/vacation, etc.
Must be a BIG money maker for these companies, especiallly health!!

Even if you are willing to risk a loss due to fire, Mother Nature, etc...I would hope you'd maintain something for liability, or an umbrella policy.

Everything has become significantly more expensive so costs more to repair or replace; therefore, cost to insure has increased. Vehicle and home owners policy premiums have skyrocketed across the country and from all providers. Past couple years I've called around for quotes just to find switching would cost even more.

Definitely worth shopping insurance every 5 years or so. Lots of times you can find better coverage for less. That's until that plan starts to increase over time. Rinse and repeat.

we have a 2 million dollar umbrella policy. had it for years. not gonna loose everything i worked for to retire
Same here, $300/year…on top of regular homeowners. You might have to pay more if you don’t have a primary homeowner policy…

With all the storms the past two summers, most of the bigger insurance carriers have moved to a deductible that reflects a percentage of the home value. My deductible for wind/hail jumped to over $12,000. I shopped around and found a smaller company with comparable coverage that saved a few hundred a year and kept me at a fixed deductible.

shop around, its common for them to raise rates for no reason other than profit. You just have to stay ahead of 'em.

I am insuranced with north star insurance on everything including my home, find an insurance like nkrth star that is a local company instead of a national one. They dont raise their rates quite as bad as the national ones. On a different type of insurance that deals with businesses, all insurance companies are canceling high risk businesses that do not have a sprinkler system which is what happened to me my insurance nearly doubled and its not a for sure thing that the insurance i have will cover me still. The thing i about north dakota is if your business is a total loss insurance companies cant nickel and dime you and pay you less.

I know several that have dropped their home insurance, especially after these new rules on hail and wind damage. Your basically paying for that on your own now anyways.
