Cabin fever is starting to set in so I was thinking of experimenting with some cheese making this weekend. For the first batch I'll probably just make curds and try a variety of spices and see how that goes. My mom used to make it when I was growing up but I don't remember how it tasted but I thought homemade cheese and butter looked gross without artificial food coloring . Anyone here ever make cheese or cheese curds and have any hints or advice ? I watched a couple you tube videos and it looks simple enough, doesn't seem any harder than making jello but I'm sure I will run across a few rough spots along the way the first batch or two.

Sounds like a great way to kill some time. "Cut the cheese"

Your right about the no art-color, my mother used to make our own butter on the farm and it was snow white and no salt.

I tried to make cheese about 8 years ago from standard whole milk from the store. It made something that could be called cheese but it didnt really taste the greatest. After doing more research a person really needs whole milk that is not processed. If you have access to that I think it would turn out great. Maybe a person can add some cream and that will help? Maybe bessy's best would work better then other? Let us know. I I'm sure my wife would love me picking up a new habit!
