Hey guys, it only takes 30 seconds to let your trailer drain after launching and driving up the ramp. Cold mornings like we are having creates slick, ice covered ramps.
On Monday morning I watched a young lady step out of her pickup, slip, fall and I'm sure she broke her ankle. It was not pretty.
I feel guilty for not yelling a warning but you guys who launched before sunrise share the hurt.

Only way you are going to stop that from happening is being smart enough to know there is going to be Ice on the ramp and bring your own salt with

Cant throw minnows in the grass, but its ok to dump salt in the river?

even a five gallon bucket of pure salt - per vehicle - would not register with regards to biota damage/mortality - non-issue :D

- - - Updated - - -

in fact - even a hundred yards downstream a conductivity meter would struggle to detect the perturbation

that's right - I said PERTURBATION ;:;rofl

Why would you suggest salt? Salt would be the last suggestion I would offer. Any armchair chemist know the reason why?

I slipped with a bag full of minnows a couple winters ago. I walked out of North hills gas station with a bag of minnows, and some snacks. I went down hard the bag flew into the air and then busted on the ice covered parking lot, effen minnows everywhere, I climbed out from under my pickup, gathered up a few of the minnows and shamefully climbed into my pickup and went straight home, laid on the couch the rest of the day sore as hell.
I did make it out the next day with the 6 minnows I rescued.

falling on ice is a horrible day ruiner.

Been going out early for years and yes I drain my trailer also carry sand just incase someone didn't drain there trailer. I watched a guy dock out after me one time and he blasted out of the water so fast left a wake up on the ramp well on his rush to get back to his boat after parking the truck damn near running down the ramp he slipped and slid half way into the water. I thought to myself lesson learned.
