this year on dvl dirt and sand blew on the ice in some places and it sucks on auger blades. 2 sets of strikemaster blades on my 24 volt, put my kdrill bit on and have gone through 3 sets of those, did you guys know there are 7.5 inch, 8 inch and 8.5 inch kdrill blades. I think i may have cooked my 24 v strikemaster as it is amping out and stopping almost constantly.

Batteries aren't cold? My Ion does that when they get cold.

Yes, they now have the 3 different sized bits hence 3 different sized blade kits

I wonder if there Is a noticeable difference between 7.5 and 8.5 holes ? I'm leaning towards a Milwaukee with a k drill since I already have 4 batteries.

I picked up a 7.5 this winter at Runnings they had them $100 off. I haven't drilled a hole with it yet, but it is noticeably smaller than my SM 10"

I hear they rip through the ice, but likely wont use it this winter, as I only have one trip planned, and my buddy has all the gear including the sno bear.

I have the 8.5" , sure makes the 8" hole from the Ion look small.

Do you have a brushless Milwaukee? Makes a difference in burning out the drill....

Acme Electric has the 8.5'' K drill with Chipper blades for $153 .78 delivered to the door.

After ordering I noticed that milwaukee makes 8 AH and 9 AH batteries, do the 5's work ok ?

If you are drilling multiple holes you are going to want the bigger batteries when the ice get thicker. The new milwaukee Forge batteries are great.

I am not sure, but I believe when they first came out with the " so called 8" they were only 7.5. Some made a stink about it. Then they changed and went bigger. Just what I remember, but I got CRS so who knows?
